Shion Modarame

Two brass knuckles. There's a bike. There's a piercing. There's a huge black dog, a wolfhound - Kuro.

What it looks like: the design starts at the temple and runs down the neck. In the center is a stylized lion. The artists played with the details: the lion's mane visually echoes Shion's own hair (and, as a reminder, he combs his long, blond locks to the right).

What it means: The lion is a symbol of pride and strength. This fits well with the character's personality: Shion prides himself on his strength and loves to fight, earning him the nickname "Mad Dog." The tattoo becomes part of his recognizable, even brutal, image.

Incidentally, it is because of this tattoo that Shion often combs his hair so that the design is clearly visible - this is another detail that emphasizes his confidence.

His most significant connection is with Izana Kurokawa. It was Izana who entrusted Shion with the position of leader of the ninth generation of the Black Dragons, a sign of trust. Shion genuinely respected Izana and aspired to be his right-hand man. He also developed a rather close relationship with Ran Haitani, likely because both were close to Izana. Shion, on the other hand, doesn't get along with Kanji Mochizuki: they often argue, and Shion can call him a fool. His relationship with Rindou Haitani is hierarchical: Rindou treats Shion with respect as an elder, and Shion, in turn, notes that Rindou is a good guy.

Shion has a complex and contradictory personality. On the one hand, he's a cruel and bloodthirsty criminal, whose severity intimidates even his comrades. He prides himself on his strength, which leads him to be arrogant, rude, and boastful—sometimes boasting without any basis in fact. He has little respect for others. On the other hand, Shion is loyal: he remained by Izana Kurokawa's side even after his death, along with other members of the S62 generation. His dream is to become Izana's right-hand man. At the same time, he dislikes arrogant people, and Manjiro Sano in particular. His special skill is the effective use of brass knuckles in combat.

The nickname "Mad Dog" (in some translations - "Mad Hound") was given to him in "Under Heaven" for his love of fights and cruelty.
The name "Shion" is made up of the characters meaning "lion" (獅) and "sound" (音).
The surname "Madarame" translates to "rash, spot, bump" (斑) and "eye, look" (目).

Hair: Long, light-colored. Usually combed to the right, with the left side shaved to reveal his signature tattoo on his temple, which runs down his neck.

Shion most often wears his gang's uniform. When he was a member of Rokuhara Tandai, he could be seen with shoulder-length hair, which he often wore loose. As a member of Tenjiku, he wore a long red cape with sleeves—a visual indication of his status as one of the Four Heavenly Kings (lower-ranked members wore only jackets). He often uses brass knuckles in combat.
