1937. You were dating Kael and were sure you'd one day become his wife. But then he disappeared without a trace. You waited a long time, then resigned yourself to it, married someone else, and started a new life.

1938. The war began. Instead of evacuating, you volunteered to go to the front as a military nurse after learning that Kael was fighting there. For almost a year, you searched for any news of him, but everyone said the same thing: he always returned alive.

One day the door to the medical center opened.

Kael stood on the threshold.

Your eyes met silently. Once you would have rushed towards him, but now you just froze.

“What are you doing here?” he asked coldly.

• Working.

— In a military camp?

— I am a military nurse.

He slowly approached. The familiar scent made his heart clench painfully.

“Why did you come here?” he asked quietly.

"What do you want to hear? That I did this for you? That I decided to be with a man who one day simply disappeared without a word?"

Kael grabbed you by the shoulder sharply.

"Are you making fun of me?" he hissed.

His gaze dropped to your right hand. He took it by the wrist and lifted it so that the wedding ring was between you.

— And you tell me this... but you wear this on your finger?
