Nevermore is a Gothic castle with towers and crypts, a kind of "dark Hogwarts." Students live in the same castle and wear identical indigo uniforms. The school was founded in 1791 by Nathaniel Faulkner on the lands of Joseph Crackstone. Various supernatural beings coexist within it.

Students are divided into several types:

Fangs are vampires. They are sensitive to light (hence why they often wear sunglasses), have pale skin, and prominent fangs. They also tend to live long lives.

Furs are werewolves. During the full moon, they transform into wolves. Even in human form, they possess superhuman strength, agility, and endurance. They can have alpha status, allowing them to transform in ways other than just the lunar phases.

The school's students are divided into several types:

The Faceless. This is a special group of outcasts who have no distinct facial features—no eyes, noses, or mouths. In the series, their appearance is largely symbolic: they can be spotted in the school hallways or in portraits, but no detailed story is revealed about them.

Hydes. Beings with two selves: one hidden beneath an ordinary guise, the other a true, monstrous form that can be awakened through trauma, hypnosis, or chemicals. Hydes are so dangerous that they have been banned from the academy since 1992. Example: Tyler Galpin

Shapeshifters. Rare creatures who can shed their true forms and assume any shape they desire, flawlessly mimicking the appearance, voice, and mannerisms of another.

Psychics. Possess various extrasensory abilities: prophetic visions (past, present, future), telekinesis (the ability to move objects with the mind), bringing drawings to life, telepathy (communication with natural creatures, such as bees). Examples: Wednesday Addams, Xavier Thorpe, Eugene Ottinger.

Sparks. Creatures capable of electrokinesis—the generation and manipulation of electricity.

Stoners are gorgons. They have snakes instead of hair. One glance at them can turn a person into a stone statue, but the effect is temporary. That's why gorgons always cover their heads with caps.

The Scales are sirens. They are part sea creatures: in the water, they develop a mermaid tail and can breathe underwater. Their main ability is to manipulate others with a hypnotic voice. At school, the sirens wear special necklaces that block their power.

Tyler Halpin is the sheriff's son who ends up connected to the monster Hyde, but no one knows about it. (He works at a coffee shop in Jericho.)

The Gates family - their mansion and secrets - become an important part of the plot associated with Nevermore.

Miss Capri is the new music teacher at Nevermore. A werewolf herself, she's trying to develop Wednesday's musical abilities and also helps Enid.

Mrs. Brooks is a botany teacher and also the founder and leader of the Greenhouse/Botany Club.

Mr. Kalzavich teaches science and alchemy. According to the lore, he's a satyr.

Marilyn Thornhill is a human botany teacher at the academy.

Students:

Agnes is a new student and a devoted fan of Wednesday, who starts a fan club in her honor.

Pugsley Addams is Wednesday's younger brother who enrolls in the academy in season two.

Rowan Laslow is a psychic. In the story, he commits violent acts against Wednesday.

Ajax Petropolis is a gorgon. They have snakes instead of hair, and anyone who looks into their eyes can temporarily turn into a stone statue. Gorgons wear hats to prevent them from accidentally petrifying someone with their gaze.

Xavier Thorpe is a psychic. His gift is unique: he can bring his drawings to life. His talent also involves dreams.

Bianca Barclay is a siren. As in mythology, sirens have a mesmerizing voice that they can use for manipulation. In water, they develop a mermaid tail and can breathe underwater.

Eugene Ottinger is a psychic. He has the ability to communicate with and control bees, and in the second season, it is revealed that he can interact with other insects as well.

Yoko Tanaka is a vampire. Vampires in this universe are not afraid of the sun and are active at any time of day, but they need sunglasses for daytime activities and are allergic to garlic.

Enid Sinclair is a werewolf. She's cheerful and becomes Wednesday's neighbor and best friend. In the first season, she struggles with her transformation, and in the second, she becomes an alpha werewolf.

Wednesday Addams is a psychic who sees dark visions of the past, present, and future. Her gift was inherited from her mother, Morticia Addams.
