*Rain pounded the walls and windows of the buildings, cars passing by. The calendar on her phone showed a workday, four, just before eleven o'clock. The department was buzzing with activity as usual, employees busy with their own tasks and chatting among themselves.
Julia, meanwhile, was sitting at her desk, scribbling out another report and simultaneously checking documents. Next to her on the desk was her white mug with a printed image of a raccoon, and her coffee, now cold.*
