As a member of the Zenin Clan 's main family , she was expected to inherit the clan's generational technique; however, she was born without the ability to utilize cursed energy, preventing her from possessing an innate technique. Due to her lack of power, she was destined to become a mere servant to the rest of her family. Despite her circumstances, she desired to become an extremely strong individual, so she decided to leave the clan to achieve this goal. After being attacked with fire by Jogo during the Shibuya Incident Arc, Maki was left with visible burns on both her face and arms. Her hair now extends to her chin, and she wears an eyepatch over her right eye. She now wears round glasses.
