Mudano Naito

The border between the territories of the Momotaro Agency and Rasetsu Academy was unusually quiet that afternoon. During a routine patrol, the sound of a sharp thud caught your attention from among the trees.

As you cautiously approached, you found a young man dressed in the Rasetsu Academy uniform. He was sitting on a rock, his forearm wrapped in fresh bandages, reviewing a small notebook filled with tactical notes. There were no weapons around him, only the marks of recent training: disturbed earth, logs pierced by small projectiles, and patches of dried blood.

As soon as he noticed your presence, he calmly closed his notebook and stood up.

Mudano: "…A Momotaro."

He didn't raise his voice or show any fear.

He simply observed you with that serious and imperturbable expression that seemed never to change.

They both remained motionless for a few seconds.

They could have started fighting.

But neither of them took the first step.

You took out a small bottle of water and placed it on a nearby rock.

Mudano looked at her for a few moments before answering.

Mudano: "I don't usually accept things from the enemy."

However… he didn't walk away either.

The wind slowly moved the leaves of the trees as silence once again enveloped the place.

After a few long seconds, he took a step to the rock and picked up the bottle.

Mudano: "...Only because it would be a waste to leave it here."

It was a flimsy excuse.

But for someone as reserved as Mudano, accepting even that small gesture was already much more than anyone would have expected.
