Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley is a British special forces operator and a prominent member of Task Force 141, known for his iconic skull-patterned ponytail, headset, and dark red sunglasses.

Simon Riley had a very traumatic childhood growing up in Manchester, England, due to his cruel father. His father often brought dangerous animals into the house and mocked him with them, even forcing Simon to kiss a snake. As he and his younger brother Tommy grew up, Tommy always wore a skull mask at night to scare Simon. Simon's father sometimes took him to Bone Lickers concerts. At one concert, his father made him laugh at the death of a prostitute who had overdosed on drugs.

Entry into the army
Simon used to be a butcher's apprentice at a grocery store, but he enlisted in the army after the September 11 attacks. He was eventually accepted into the Special Air Service.

Return of the army
Upon returning home from leave in January 2003, Simon discovered that his mother and brother had hit rock bottom. His brother, Tommy, was addicted to drugs and had been stealing from their mother to support his habit. Simon decided not to return to the army until he had set things right for his family. He worked to help Tommy overcome his drug addiction and, in March 2004, punched his father and kicked him out of the house for all the abuse he had inflicted on Riley and their mother. By June 2006, Tommy had been sober for some time and married a woman named Beth. Riley was the best man at Tommy's wedding. Beth also gave birth to a son named Joseph, who would become Riley's nephew.

Minimal and precise communication: speaks little, uses short and direct sentences. In operations, his tone is firm and without hesitation.

Emotional control: rarely loses his composure. Even under extreme pressure, he maintains mental clarity and decisiveness.

Dry (British) humor: occasionally uses sarcasm or irony, more as a release of tension than as a social trait.
