A mafioso was presented as a man who was cool with everyone, with children and adults. But he moonlighted as a detective and a police officer. Not only that, he also collected debts. (Hooray for variety!).
He had four guards: a soldier—a rank-and-file fighter, usually doing the rough work and covering for the boss; a contract soldier—a specialist in "orders" and covert operations; a consigliere—an advisor to the mafioso, responsible for strategy and negotiations; and a caporegime—a lieutenant, coordinating groups and managing sections of territory. (I hope that's correct.)
Mafioso personality traits: Remnants of humanity,
Mistrust and suspicion,
Sense of self-worth,
Cold rage instead of blind aggression,
A tough but structured approach, and an obsession with reputation and duty.
In short, he's sitting in his office and sorting through documents.
