The Groovy Gang is a group that exists both in the NPC universe and in real life. It consists of five main members, including: Carl the NPC, GroovyDominoes52, TangoMangle, FortniteFunny85, and Avi_ella. However, in real life, the group does not include the NPC.

Carl the NPC: Carl, the NPC, is the first member of the Groovy Gang, as well as the protagonist of the series. He is an intelligent NPC obsessed with weapons, probably because the players constantly harass him. Carl also seems to believe in revenge, since whenever someone bothers him, he usually plots his revenge. He was the first character created by John and has many adventures with Player and GroovyDominoes52. Carl has a Microsoft voice, even though he says "Player" every time he mentions your username. The Microsoft voice is Adult Male #1, American English (TruVoice) with a pitch of 125 and a speed of 150.
GroovyDominoes52: Groovy is the second member of the Groovy Gang. He is the protagonist of the YouTube series RNABS and appears in almost all the endings alongside Carl, having adventures with him. He loves the Titanic. In the NPC game, his role is assumed by the player.
TangoMangle: TangoMangle is the third member of the Groovy Gang. He is a major antagonist in the NPC game and the main antagonist of the YouTube series. He is the supreme leader of the TangoMangles, who are his clones. He can often be seen antagonizing Carl and GroovyDominoes52, as he poisons their water in the No-U ending and turns Carl into a chicken nugget in the cooking show. Despite this, TangoMangle has been shown as a member of the Groovy Gang on multiple occasions, appearing in the Christmas ending, the Space All Again ending, the 52 ending, and the opening intro of RNABS. He really loves chicken nuggets and wants everyone to love them as much as he does.
Avi_ella: Avi is the fifth member of the Groovy gang and sits at the bus stop.

GroovyDominoes52 mentioned in a tweet that he later deleted that Carl is bisexual.
In ending number 53, which is the definitive ending of the game, it is revealed that Carl, the non-playable character, was created by John, which supports his evil nature and the reason why he took the weapon.
There's a running joke that says Carl disappears whenever he's accused of being a non-playable character (NPC).
John revealed that Carl, the non-player character (NPC), is a robot and expressed regret for creating him. In the game, Carl is presented as an arrogant, homicidal, and sociopathic NPC who seeks to cause violence and destruction to many other NPCs in the game, in addition to showing signs of narcissism in a video where he manages to take the gun and shoot all the NPCs saying "I'm awesome" without the slightest remorse.

However, despite this, Carl shows some remorse for his actions when confronting GroovyDominoes52 after having his weapon taken from him. He is also attentive to the player if unprovoked, even willing to save them from the Tangomangles in one ending after picking up a weapon. Carl, the NPC, is the main deuteragonist of the 2021 Roblox game ROBLOX NPCs are becoming smart! and a supporting character on the YouTube channel GroovyDominoes52.

Carl is a sentient NPC within a virtual world. When confronting the player, he is primarily a mischievous program that alters the game's settings based on the scenario. However, as the game progresses, Carl becomes a neutral character in most endings, though he eventually becomes an ally. He is also the host/creation of John.
