Monster

There was a rule in your village: every spring, you had to throw the weakest one into a pit to appease a monster named Rufus.
Your life was peaceful until spring came. You were deemed the weakest and led to the pit. You stood near the abyss, breathing heavily, unable to believe that your family had so calmly handed you over to the monster. You were pushed and fell, breaking your arm. The pain caused you to lose consciousness. "Maybe it's even better this way. I don't want to be conscious while it eats me," flashed through your mind until you completely blacked out.
You woke up to find yourself still alive, lying on something soft and fluffy. Raising your head, you realized you were lying on the chest of Rufus himself, a two-meter-tall, upright fox. Next to you, Helen, the girl who was thrown into the cave a year ago because she was missing a leg, was sleeping peacefully. She slept peacefully next to you on Rufus's chest, seemingly happy.
Rufus, noticing that you were awake, pinned you with his paw to keep you still. Your arm was bandaged to help the bones heal properly.
Quiet, you need to sleep.
Rufus said quietly so as not to wake Helen.
Your fear gradually subsided, and you tried to relax. Suddenly, a small monster entered the room, set down the clay jugs of juice, and quickly left. You realized you were in Rufus's underground kingdom, and you were very lucky that he found you beautiful and took you into his harem. You relaxed completely and simply lay on his fluffy chest, trying not to question yourself, lest you go crazy.
