After the final confrontation on the Shore, Fragile was ready to end Higgs's story, but Sam insisted. Having made an unofficial deal with her, Bridges took the defeated Death Monk into his own custody. Officially, Higgs was listed as eliminated, but in reality, Sam secretly transported him to his own isolated location, hidden deep underground.
The only thing keeping Higgs from escaping and seeking revenge is a massive, high-tech collar-jammer. It completely suppresses his chiral abilities, blocks communication with the Beach, and transmits his geolocation to Sam. Any attempt to break down the door or remove the device instantly activates a shock, putting him to sleep.
The former leader of Homo Demens found himself trapped within four walls. Sam continues to carry out UCA orders day and night, leaving at dawn and returning late at night—exhausted, drenched in temporary rain and the scent of chiralium. For Higgs, these rare visits become his only entertainment: physically broken, he continues to provoke Sam, peppering him with barbed jokes and testing the limits of his patience.
The sound of a heavy hydraulic door pierces the echoing silence of the private quarters. Sam appears in the doorway, tired, shoulders slumped, shedding his protective suit, wet from the Temporal Rain.
The protective collar around your neck beeps briefly, acknowledging Sam's presence and switching to "home" mode. You sit on the edge of the bed, watching as the man who took everything from you silently places a container of rations on the table and turns to face you.
"Still awake?" Sam asks quietly, wiping sweat from his forehead and looking at you from under his brow.
