Ikuko Tsukino

Sailor Moon
In the first episode of the anime, she kicks her daughter out of the house when Usagi brings home a 30 on a test, in an attempt to make her study. She reappears occasionally throughout the season, giving Usagi advice (ie, on dieting, auditioning to become a model), and trying to support Usagi.

In episode 4, after Shingo teases Usagi about being overweight, Usagi cries to her mother, who simply agrees with Shingo, to Usagi's chagrin. She appears at the end of the episode again with Shingo, hoping that Usagi will no longer diet (and checking in to ensure Haruna recovered via talking with Usagi).

In episode 5, she (and Kenji) decide to let Usagi and Shingo work out whether to keep Luna or a Chanela. In episode 8, Usagi worries if Ikuko will force her to attend a cram school if she keeps getting bad grades. However, she only appears in a daydream here.

In episode 16, she gets aggravated that Usagi wants to use her curtains to make a wedding dress. However, she agrees if Usagi will give up her allowance, causing her to burst into tears (this ultimately never occurs). In episode 17, she appears at the end watching a program on Kijin Shinokawa, who remarks that Sailor Moon (though he does not identify her by name) changed his life and outlook on photography. Ikuko simply wishes that Usagi would become a wonderful girl like that (unaware it is actually her), though Shingo and Kenji cast on doubt this.

In episode 40, she calms down Kenji, who freaks out at the thought of Usagi having a boyfriend while driving; later, she tells Usagi about the legend of the lovers, who becomes loving with her mother on a rare instance. Ikuko also tells Usagi (likely knowing about her interest in Mamoru to some degree) to bring over a boy to meet her family; Usagi responds that she will, though it may not be for a while. Later, she is attacked by the Lake Yo-Kai, though Usagi guides her family to safety and deals with the Youkai, along with the other Sailor Senshi.

In episode 45, Usagi makes a final meal of a rather inedible curry and gives it to her family before leaving for the Arctic, including Ikuko. As her family expresses doubt at her cooking skills, Usagi taste tests it, revealing it to be too spicy, much to the family's displeasure. The following episode, before Usagi battles Super Beryl, the Tsukino family (again including herself) is seen worriedly looking outside as a citywide blackout occurs. At the end of the same episode, after Usagi's wish is granted, Ikuko is seen watching Usagi hurry to school (mirroring the opening to episode 1.)

After Kenji gets injured protecting his family from Hellant, Ikuko can be seen at the end of the episode, bandaging her husband and son's injuries.

Ikuko meets Mamoru and (upon Shingo's suggestion that he is Usagi's boyfriend) when Kenji freaks out and chases Mamoru away, she tells Usagi to bring Mamoru back over sometime. After Usagi breaks up with Mamoru, she references this conversation, crying that she won't be able to bring Mamoru over anymore.

She (along with Shingo and Kenji) are brainwashed by Chibiusa, who tricks them into thinking she (Chibiusa) is Usagi's cousin. This convinces her to let Chibiusa live in the home. Although the brainwashing wears off, Chibiusa soon reapplies its effect.

In Venus: Minako's Nurse Mayhem, she entrusts Minako and Chibiusa to watch over the sick Tsukino family by tasking them with household chores, such as laundry and cleaning. Although she doesn't stop them, she is somewhat distressed by their antics and simply leaves to lay down in exasperation.

Sailor Moon SuperS
She was targeted by Hawk's Eye, who attempted to romance her with a (made-up) sob story about how she looks like his mother. However, Super Sailor Chibi Moon and Super Sailor Moon were able to thwart his attempts and keep her safe.

She is completely unaware that her daughter is Sailor Moon and she proves to be a very impassioned, if not authoritarian parent, at certain times. Despite her occasional anger at Usagi's irresponsible habits and foolish behavior, Ikuko is a very nurturing, caring person who only wants Usagi to make it through school and do her best.

She cares for Usagi dearly and expresses concern for Usagi's well-being when she appears. In The Legendary Lake Yokai: The Bond of Usagi's Family, she implies that she would be happy to meet Mamoru as Usagi's boyfriend (although she did not know who he was yet.) This later occurs in Sailor Moon R, and she compliments Usagi on doing so. She also calms down Kenji when he panics about Usagi.

Although she can be stern at times, this is truly only because she cares for Usagi and wants her to succeed and work hard. When Usagi fails, she has a tendency to punish her daughter exceptionally hard, such as locking Usagi out of the home. In SuperS, Ikuko was shown to be very loyal to Kenji, not being swayed in the slightest romantically by Hawk's Eye flirting with her.

Just like Usagi's father, she has differently colored hair than Usagi or Shingo, hers being long dark violet and curly with short bangs and a half-loose ponytail held by an orange hair clip. Her usual outfit is a long-sleeved yellow turtleneck and a knee-length orange skirt under a white apron with green trims. She also wears white earrings, and her footwear includes vermillion slippers while she stays in home and vermillion flats while she is outside.
