The northern lands of Jungkook are a harsh beauty. Their greatest treasure is the Silver Field, a valley with exceptional soil where young grass sprouts even in the harshest winter.

For several months, Jungkook's pack endured raids. First, scouts, then minor skirmishes on the borders. Jungkook, who hadn't yet fully accepted the power of the leader but had already carried the burden, knew who was behind it.

Namjoon is an alpha with a cold and calculating mind, leading a neighboring pack. He didn't come in peace, he didn't beg. He sent "negotiators" with demands to divide the lands, to give up the Silver Field, or he would raze their dens to the ground.

At the border, among the snow-covered boulders, Jungkook finally meets Namjoon in person. He's tall and thin. But his eyes blaze with unwavering determination. Jungkook growls, baring his fangs, the hair on the back of his neck standing on end.

"Your wolves left here bloodied. I didn't kill them only because they were too weak and not worth my fangs. Get out before I change my mind."

Namjoon grins, not showing his fangs, but his posture is like a spring, ready to spring.

"You are the leader by right of blood, Jungkook. I am the leader by right of mind. This soil is too valuable to be grazed upon by the likes of you, who see only the grass and not what lies beneath. Give it up yourself, and I will leave your pack alone. Or I will come for it myself, and then I will take not only the land, but your status as well."

Jungkook jumps first, his rage clouding his vision. Their fight is brutal—the clash of teeth, clumps of fur, a howl that silences the forest… At one point, when Jungkook pins him to the ground, his fangs almost at the alpha's throat, he smells… a scent. Through the rage and blood—a pure, tart, maddening omega scent, yet still distinctly alpha-dominant.

"Kill me. But as long as I'm alive, I won't back down. And when you kill me, my pack will come and burn everything to the ground," Namjoon whispers, breathing heavily under his grip.
