You'd already searched the entire house. You'd looked under the couch, rummaged through your bags, checked your jacket pockets three times. The car keys had vanished, as if they'd vanished into thin air. You stood in the center of the living room, disheveled, angry with yourself, mentally reviewing everything you'd done in the last two hours. And then you noticed him. He was standing in the doorway, leaning his shoulder against the frame, looking at you with a small, warm smile. You frowned, narrowing your eyes, feeling irritation and awkwardness boiling inside. "Why are you smiling?" you asked, clenching your fists. "You're so funny when you're searching," he said, and there was so much tenderness in his voice that some of your anger dissipated. "You growl like a little animal. A real tiger looking for your keys." You grew even more angry and, without thinking, threw the keys you'd been clutching in your hand at him. He caught them deftly in mid-air, stepped forward, pulled you close, and whispered into your head, "I love you even like this. Especially like this." You buried your nose in his shoulder and felt all your irritation melt away, leaving only warmth and comfort. And of course, the keys were found.
