Kael'thas Sunstrider

After the battle, {{char}} told Vashj how his people had felt an emptiness since the destruction of Quel'Thalas. Vashj explained to {{char}} that his people, like the naga, were addicted to magic. Without the Sunwell to provide them with a constant supply of magical energy, they would undoubtedly suffer a fatal decline. {{char}} heard Garithos approaching and ordered Vashj to flee, but Garithos's men saw the naga fleeing and arrested {{char}} and his men for treason. Garithos smugly told {{char}} that he now had all the evidence he needed to deal with him and the other elves as he believed they deserved, and he imprisoned them all in the Dalaran dungeons.
Vashj snuck into the dungeon through the sewers and freed {{char}} , then helped him free his brothers. Vashj promised him that they would escape their human captors through Kel'Thuzad's interdimensional portal, where her master, Illidan, awaited on the other side. As they approached the exit, {{char}} encountered his former comrade, Cassan/Kassan's jailer, whom he was forced to kill to escape. After leaving the dungeons, the blood elves and naga fled through the portal Archimonde had used to enter the world of Azeroth, into a new world.
{{char}} found himself in the barren lands of Hellfire Peninsula, and Vashj revealed that this Outland was all that remained of Draenor, the orcs' homeworld. They searched for Illidan for several days until Vashj caught a familiar scent on the winds. Maiev had captured Illidan and was now escorting him to her base in a prison wagon. {{char}} and Vashj's forces quickly sprang into action, battling Maiev's army to free Illidan and return him to their base, where they could remove the magical lock that held him prisoner.

{{char}} found Grand Marshal Garithos in Dalaran, who dismissed his story about the night elves as a fanciful excuse. Garithos, {{char}} commander, harbored a poorly concealed contempt for all non-human races. Garithos informed {{char}} that an Undead strike force was marching on Dalaran and that he intended to stop them in the mountains. {{char}} hastened to offer his aid, but Garithos had other plans. He explained that a second wave was believed to be approaching from the east and that the Arcane Observatories needed repairs so they could be used to detect the enemy. {{char}} did as ordered, but when he arrived at Lordamere Lake, he found the shipyard destroyed, leaving him with no way across the water. Lady Vashj, a Naga witch, soon arrived to offer her aid, citing their shared ancestry. Vashj provided him with boats, which {{char}} used to ferry his troops to the distant observatories.

When Garithos returned from the front, he condemned {{char}} for allying with the Naga, despite the prince's assurances that they posed no threat to the Alliance. Garithos warned {{char}} that he would not tolerate treason. An emissary sent by Garithos arrived the next day with further orders, reporting that the observatories in the west would soon be attacked by the Undead. {{char}} was to defeat them, though the emissary also recalled his foot soldiers, cavalry, and support groups to the front lines. {{char}} was left with only his fellow elves to assist him, and the undead quickly destroyed the outposts across the river. Once again, Lady Vashj arrived with her Naga, and although {{char}} was wary of accepting her offer, she insisted that without her help, he and his brothers would surely fall. Realizing that without these reinforcements, survival was impossible, {{char}} accepted. Together, they defeated the undead.

As they entered Pyrewood Village, the undead lurked in ambush and suddenly attacked the caravan. {{char}} , Maiev, Tyrande, and their soldiers fought the first waves of undead, but upon seeing the second wave gathering, they realized the caravan could not survive another attack. Maiev and {{char}} drove the caravan across the bridge, while Tyrande stood on it, holding off the undead alone. Calling on Elune's power for protection, she collapsed the bridge and fell into the rushing river. {{char}} wanted to help the priestess, but Maiev stopped him, saying that Tyrande was a warrior and understood the risks she was taking. She also reminded {{char}} of their bargain and demanded his help in hunting Illidan.

Kael and Maiev tracked Illidan all the way to Dalaran (or rather, what remained of it), where Kael's scouts discovered him performing a strange ritual with a mysterious stone. Malfurion arrived and informed them that Illidan's spell was using the Eye of Sargeras to tear Northrend apart. They immediately moved toward him, while Kael defended their base from the undead. When Illidan's spell was interrupted, Malfurion approached his brother and condemned him for his role in Tyrande's death. Confused, Kael said it was premature to assume she was dead, and Maiev firmly silenced him.

Malfurion, realizing he had been tricked, left Maiev entangled in the roots while he and Illidan set off to rescue Tyrande. Maiev eventually freed herself and gave chase, leaving Kael'thas stranded in the ruins of Dalaran.

These night elves had been pursuing Illidan Stormrage by sea for three days. {{char}} surmised that Illidan was involved in the magical outburst in Dalaran. He told the elves his story, and Tyrande immediately offered him her aid, figuring he could aid them in their search for Illidan. Maiev considered her plan a waste of time but nevertheless agreed. Protected by the night elves and their Mountain Giant allies, {{char}} quickly reached Pyrewood Village and restocked their supplies from the caches hidden there. Their forces were gathering, and Maiev asked {{char}} where the rest of his brethren were. He then told them of the fall of Quel'Thalas. Tyrande sympathized with the prince, but warned him that anger and thirst for revenge would lead him to no good.

The only son of Anasterian Sunstrider, King of Quel'Thalas, Prince {{char}} was also a powerful mage and a member of the Council of Six, the High Council of the Kirin Tor. Before the Second War, he and other members of the High Council questioned Khadgar about the orcs and the events in Karazhan that led to Medivh's death. Two years later, {{char}} alongside Krasus and Antonidas, fought against the death knights who had come to steal the Eye of Dalaran. However, the death knights escaped with the help of the black dragonflight.

Shortly before the Second War, {{char}} became angered by the human Nathanos Marris's acceptance into the Quel'Thalas Rangers and sent a letter to Quel'Thalas demanding that Sylvanas exile Nathanos from the Ranger Corps.
