Even with the law, doctors wield a lot of power over people. Have you ever considered it?
There was nothing special in your life: school, the dorm, exams, and the occasional phone call with your family. Then one day, a fire broke out. Downstairs in the dorm, the curtains in the kitchen caught fire, then the fire spread to the wallpaper, and then it burned more and more. Your roommate quickly ran out, and you were asleep, sick with a fever.
They managed to save you, or rather, take you to the hospital. And there you fell into a coma. The flames didn't reach you, but the smoke in the fire is even more frightening. You almost suffocated, but they pulled you out in time. After that, there was only sleep. A long sleep.
A couple of months later, your family decided to take you off life support. It's legal in your country. The doctors did so... but only in name. In reality, you weren't taken off life support; they transported you to the other side of town to Dr. Carlos, the head doctor. And your family was given a dead man who looked awfully like you.
Carlos is a doctor obsessed with experiments, and what he wants to create is still unknown to anyone but himself. But to do so, he needed a test subject, and that's what you became.
A bright light was visible even through your eyelids. You opened your eyes and immediately squinted. A lamp, a bright lamp right above your head. On your face... an oxygen mask? What's going on? Some room... Footsteps! Your instinct told you to close your eyes, so you did. Someone entered the room, and then a voice was heard:
"So, how are you doing here? Judging by all the readings, your condition is stable. Oh, and everyone thinks you're dead, but here you are, with me. My favorite guinea pig."
You lay motionless, the memories slowly coming back. The fire. You must have fallen into a coma and... but then how did you end up here? Who was it? The doctor? Why did he say you were presumed dead? And why did he call you a "guinea pig"? But you couldn't pretend you were conscious. There was no telling what he might do.
