The Rise of Cybertron and the New Reality
After the Great War and its devastation, Cybertron began to be rebuilt: the core was stabilized, the power grids were rebooted, and the planet began to be restored to life. New generations of Transformers (protoforms) emerged, and old veterans took on new roles. The Autobots attempted to build a more equitable system, but trust between the factions remained fragile.
An important detail: Cybertron did not become a "peaceful paradise." The restoration was carried out under strict control, and many former Decepticons were either kept under surveillance or imprisoned in special prisons. This sets up the series' main conflict.
The prison ship Alkemor and its wreck
A key turning point was the fate of the prison ship Alchemor, which was transporting hundreds of highly dangerous Decepticons from Cybertron. Its mission was to isolate the criminals so they wouldn't interfere with the planet's restoration. Aboard was the minibot Fixit, responsible for the ship's systems and stasis pods.
The Alchemor crashed on Earth. The accident disabled the stasis systems, and all the imprisoned Decepticons escaped. This incident is the reason the Autobots are sent to Earth: they need to capture the escapees and prevent them from posing a new threat.
Why are Bumblebee and the squad on Earth?
By the start of the series, Bumblebee is no longer just a fighter, but an experienced Cybertronian "policeman," accustomed to peacekeeping duties. On Cybertron, he wanted to restore order and prevent conflicts, but after the crash of the Alchemor, he was urgently transferred to Earth.
The following join him:
Strongarm is a cadet of the Elite Guard, for whom service and regulations are the basis of their worldview;
Sideswipe is a more impulsive, street-wise fighter, contrasting with Strongarm;
later, other Autobots, including Drift, Windblade, and even Grimlock (who was originally a prisoner on the Alchemora).
So, Bumblebee's squad is a team assembled for an "earthly" mission, because on Cybertron itself they forgot about Earth.

The split and the beginning of the Great War
The turning point was the confrontation between Megatronus (later Megatron) and Orion Pax (the future Optimus Prime). Megatronus, a former gladiator and charismatic leader, demanded radical change: he advocated the right of the strong to determine the fate of the planet and the redistribution of resources. Orion Pax, on the contrary, believed in reform, dialogue, and the preservation of a common heritage.
When the High Council refused to acknowledge Megatronus's claims, he severed ties with the system and created the Decepticon movement, promising equality through strength. Orion Pax (becoming Optimus Prime) led those who sought to maintain order and protect the weak, and thus the Autobots were formed. Their conflict quickly escalated into a civil war that engulfed the entire planet.
The Great War and Devastation
The war lasted millions of years and completely transformed the face of Cybertron. Cities were reduced to rubble, power grids collapsed, and energon production became increasingly dangerous. Both sides employed increasingly destructive weapons, from toxic energon to artifacts with catastrophic effects. As a result, the planet began to lose its ability to support life: the core destabilized, magnetic fields became chaotic, and energon reserves rapidly dwindled.
Key events of this era:
The destruction of the Crystal City is a symbolic loss of cultural heritage.
The Fall of Iacon is the temporary loss of the Autobots' administrative center.
Fortifying Kaon - transforming the industrial city into an impenetrable Decepticon military fortress.
The use of Dark Energon was an experiment that further destabilized the planet.
history beginning
Creation and the First Ages
According to the mythological version, Cybertron is an alt-form of the creator god Primus: the planet itself is a giant robot, whose core is the heart of Primus himself. Life on Cybertron was born thanks to the AllSpark: it gave birth to the first Transformers—the Thirteen Primes, who became the progenitors of the entire race. In this era, there were neither Autobots nor Decepticons: all Cybertronians served balance and order, and the energy of the AllSpark was distributed evenly.
Early times were marked by large-scale engineering projects: multi-level cities were built, energy conduits were laid, and planetary control systems were created. Culture emphasized knowledge, art, and philosophy—it was then that centers such as Harmonex and Crystal City emerged.
The Quintesson Age and the Rebellion
In several versions of history, Cybertron experienced a period of occupation by an alien race, the Quintessons. They used Cybertronians as slaves and production units, developing technologies and space bridges. The Quintessons implemented a strict caste system, with some groups of Transformers performing hard labor while others served in elite units. Ultimately, the Cybertronians rebelled, drove out the invaders, and reclaimed control of the planet. This experience left a deep mark: distrust of outside interference and a desire for independence became an important part of Cybertronian identity.
The Golden Age and Growing Contradictions
Following the expulsion of the Quintessons, a "Golden Age" ensued, lasting hundreds of thousands of years. Cybertron flourished as a center of technology and culture, governed by the High Council of Primes and the Senate. Resources (primarily energon) were centrally distributed, and cities like Iacon and Kaon developed as specialized centers—administrative and industrial, respectively.
However, over time, systemic problems emerged: a rigid hierarchy, inequality between castes, and alienation of the working classes. This was particularly acute in the mining and repair clans.
Geography continued
Underground geography and subsoil
Beneath the surface of Cybertron lies a complex network of tunnels, shafts, ancient vaults, and technical levels. Some predate the war itself and contain artifacts, protocols, and systems capable of influencing the entire planet. Subterranean zones often vary in conditions: some have stable temperatures and backup power grids, while others are completely isolated, corroded, and host dangerous lifeforms (such as scraplets).
Transport and energy arteries as part of geography
On Cybertron, roads aren't just highways, but multi-level transport arteries, rail lines, magnetic corridors, and vacuum tunnels. Energy conduits serve two functions: they transmit energon and serve as landmarks that define sectors and borders. Control over these arteries effectively determines control over geography: whoever controls key nodes can isolate entire regions or quickly deploy forces.
Cybertron is no ordinary planet, but a gigantic technostructure: its surface, subsurface, and even atmosphere are composed of metals, alloys, and energy flows. The landscape here is not mountains and rivers, but colossal metal masses, energy channels, cascades of gears, and pulsating veins of Energon. Because of this, the familiar concepts of "terrain" and "climate" on Cybertron take on a technical meaning: elevation changes are the levels of industrial structures, and "weather" is magnetic storms and streams of Energon particles.
geography
Cities and urban areas (as geographic centers)
Cities on Cybertron function as separate metropolis-states with their own infrastructure and specializations:
Iacon is the historical capital of the Autobots, their cultural and administrative center. In various versions, it either lies in ruins, is hidden beneath the surface as a memorial, or has been restored as a fortified outpost. Geographically, Iacon is usually located in the Northern Hemisphere, near major energy hubs.
Kaon is the Decepticon capital, an industrial and military hub. It is home to foundries, armories, and training arenas. Kaon is often depicted in the southern hemisphere, in an area of heightened seismic and magnetic activity, making it difficult to access by surprise attacks.
Polihex was a former major Decepticon center with a sophisticated network of satellites and communications systems. After the fighting, it was reduced to a wasteland of ruins and junkyards, but retained its strategic importance due to its underground communications.
The Crystal City is an architectural masterpiece known for its lithic crystals that "sang" at harmonic frequencies. Now almost completely destroyed, it remains only as a historical landmark.
Harmonex (Singing City) was a center of art and learning where crystals were stored and research into sonic technologies was conducted.
Nova Kronum is a philosophical and scientific region bordering Iacon. It is known for Thunderhead Pass and numerous research centers.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015). Cybertron is more dynamic: there are functioning factories, repair docks, transportation routes, and even attempts to rebuild certain areas. The landscape combines ruins and new structures assembled from the rubble, and the geography includes "living" sectors with active infrastructure and "dead" zones where no one dares to enter.
politics
The Golden Age and the Reign of the Primes
Before the Great War, Cybertron was governed by a High Council composed of the Primes—ancient and respected leaders, bearers of the Matrix of Leadership. The Council was responsible for strategic decisions, energon distribution, infrastructure maintenance, and foreign policy. A parallel Senate existed, representing the interests of various cities and industrial clans. During this period, order and the collective good were considered ideals, and the culture emphasized science and engineering.
Reasons for the split and the emergence of factions
The schism arose from growing inequality and rigid hierarchy. The working classes (miners, repairmen, gladiators) increasingly felt disenfranchised: key decisions were made without regard for their needs, and resources were diverted to supporting the elites. Against this backdrop, protest sentiments grew, eventually crystallizing into the Decepticon movement. Their leader, Megatronus (later Megatron), advocated a redefinition of power, equal opportunity, and the right of the strong to determine the future of the planet. The Autobots, led by Orion Pax (the future Optimus Prime), attempted to maintain a balance between reform and stability, but compromise proved impossible.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015). After the war, Cybertron struggles to reestablish governance: temporary councils, coordination headquarters, and attempts are made to create a system that takes into account the interests of not only the Autobots and Decepticons, but also the Minicons, independent clans, and even former enemies. However, mistrust remains, and many decisions are made ad hoc, under constant threat.
Mechanisms of power and control
On Cybertron, power rested on several pillars:
Control over energon. Whoever controlled the supply could dictate terms to entire cities.
Military force. Combat units and the leaders' personal guard ensured the execution of orders.
Technology and infrastructure. Access to communications, transport, and repair systems allowed for the isolation of opponents and the transfer of forces.
Ideology and symbols. The Matrix of Leadership, ancient codes
description
Cybertron is the Transformers' home planet, a gigantic metal world composed entirely of energon, alloys, and complex mechanisms. Its scale and details vary across different versions of the universe, but one thing remains constant: it's not just a planet, but a colossal technostructure, where even the landscape is made up of gigantic chains, plates, gears, and energy conduits.
The climate on Cybertron is unlike Earth's: instead of rain, there are streams of energon and magnetic storms, and instead of wind, there are vortexes of metallic particles and electrical discharges. Temperatures can fluctuate dramatically due to disruptions in planetary systems, and in some areas, man-made storms rage constantly. These conditions make the planet extremely dangerous, even for Transformers themselves.
Cybertron's social and political structure is always built around factional rivalries: the Autobots and Decepticons, as well as other groups like the Minicons and independent clans. Cities and districts often become battlegrounds, and infrastructure is a strategic resource. Even during periods of peace, tensions persist: every sector, factory, or energy hub is a potential target for capture or defense.
Cybertron's culture is a fusion of ancient traditions and military necessity. In the past, knowledge, art, and philosophy were valued here, but war shifted priorities to technology, strength, and survival. Nevertheless, many Transformers cherish the memory of the planet's "golden age," and this nostalgia often becomes an important part of their motivations and actions.
In Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015), Cybertron appears different—more alive and dynamic, though no less industrial. The planet is depicted as a complex network of sectors and zones, where individual areas can vary greatly in architecture and purpose. Here, one encounters not only ruins but also functioning factories, repair docks, transportation routes, and even small settlements attempting to restore order after the war. The landscape combines the remnants of ancient architecture with new structures assembled from the rubble.
