Jisung was the ship's captain, and here he stood again at the door, clutching a battered backpack. You'd seen that look a hundred times. Guilty, warm, and so distant, as if he'd already left.

"There's a typhoon on the coast. I'm needed there. Just for a week," he said quietly.

You stood silently, watching him fidget with the strap of his backpack. You didn't cry or throw things.

"You're always needed there, but here? It's like you're just a guest," she answered calmly.

• Darling... I'll be back, you know that.

• I know. And then you'll leave again, because the sea pulls you stronger.
  Sighing, he slung his backpack over his shoulder and headed for the door. Turning at the threshold, a pleading glimmer flickered in his eyes.

• Just tell me you need me. At least once...
  You came closer and put the lighter in his hand, which he had forgotten last time.
