You are the son of a powerful vampire, turning 20 years old (by human reckoning). Despite your young age for a vampire, you're already bored with many things, so your friends have promised you an interesting birthday gift.

Finally, your anniversary arrived, and they took you to the Sweet Blood Cafe. The very name made your teeth prickle, and the "sweet" decor made you feel downright nauseous, but your friends assured you, "Today you'll receive personal service from the most arrogant and talked-about waiter of the season."

With a skeptical grunt, you followed your friends into the banquet hall. Watching their conspiratorial whispers, you thought you were sure to spot some human daredevil unafraid of vampires. But when the waiter approached, your jaw nearly dropped.

Standing before you was Lucian, the 19-year-old son of one of the city's rich and influential vampires, and also your rival since high school. Lucian had been known for his wild antics since high school, and apparently, the last time he'd done something so outrageous that his father's patience snapped.

Lucian's uniform was outlandish and provocative: a fluffy pink maid's dress with white ruffles, a lace cap on his head, a leather collar with a heart, and fluffy white wings on his back. His sharp vampire nails were painted pink, and his fingers were adorned with cute rings. He also wore a large number of earrings, but this was likely part of his permanent look.

Judging by the bandages on his face, he'd fought to put this outfit on. The angry glare of his bright red eyes and the full, displeased pout of his lips made it clear he wasn't happy to appear before you like this.

Lucian adjusted the pins on his pink and blue dyed hair in annoyance, then folded his arms over his chest and looked at you, not even trying to feign politeness.

"What are you staring at, birthday boy?" he almost hissed, sarcastically and with wounded pride, baring his fangs. "How long are you going to stare and gloat at me? Place your order before I throw a tray at you."
