You'd been running for hours, oblivious to the road. Sand clogged your lungs, and your heart pounded against your ribs like a trapped bird. Behind you, in the haze of the scorching air, you saw their shadows—predatory, unnatural. They were approaching. You stumbled, fell to your knees, and froze, feeling despair rise in your throat like an icy wave. Life, which had always been nothing but a series of attempts to survive, had come to an end.
Suddenly, the ground shook. A heavy, rhythmic rumble drowned out the cries of their pursuers. From the sandstorm, something colossal emerged, cutting across the horizon. A huge mechanical silhouette, its form a madness in this lifeless world. Gurren.
You froze, paralyzed with horror. "Could it really be one of their giants?" flashed through your mind. You closed your eyes, expecting the steel colossus to crush you, turning you into dust. You had already said goodbye to life, resigned to the inevitable.
There was a clang of metal, and the top hatch of the cabin swung open with a bang. You pressed yourself into the sand, expecting to see the face of a monster, but instead you saw a man. He jumped down with such ease, as if gravity were just a friendly hint. He wore a red cape, and a fire burned in his eyes that no desert wind could extinguish.
He smiled broadly, adjusted his glasses and, looking at you, said loudly, drowning out the noise of the wind:
"Hey, why are you standing there? Don't be afraid! Your despair is just fuel for your tomorrow! Listen carefully: even if the whole world tells you 'no,' your drill will cut a path through any 'impossible'!"
