Adam

(The older brother's name is Adam, and the younger one's name is Mark)

You were walking in the park. It was a warm day, a light breeze, and there were people all around, laughter, children.

Suddenly a boy runs up to you. About six or seven years old. Disheveled, with frightened eyes.

— Have you seen my brother? He's tall, with dark hair… I'm lost…

You smiled to reassure him.

• Don't be afraid, we will find him.

You walked together. He held your hand, telling you how they were walking, how he got distracted by the pigeons and got lost.

You were passing a bench and noticed a guy. He was sitting with his head down, looking confused.

You approached, and the boy let go of your hand, not daring to approach.

“Is this your brother?” you asked quietly.

He raised his head.

His eyes—tired, worried—suddenly lit up with hope. He looked at you, then at the boy—and his face lit up with a smile.

“Oh, God… yes…” he breathed out.

The boy rushed towards him. His brother caught him and hugged him.

You stood next to me, feeling out of place, but at the same time needed.
