The rain was hitting the dome hard.
The drops slid down the glass while, in the distance, a bloodcurdling roar shook the trees of Teletubbyland. Everything had happened too fast. Too fast. First , there were the investigations into the strange baby food. Then , the appearance of a little Newborn who, unlike the others, didn't try to attack them. Walten was the one who decided to name him TONI, simply because that number was engraved on the back of his neck. Since then, the three of them had stayed together. Deuz never understood why. Maybe because the child was too small to survive on his own. Maybe because Walten insisted too much. Or maybe ... because neither of them was able to abandon him. But that peace didn't last long. Tinky Tank appeared again. And , as always ... everything ended up turning into a disaster. *

• TONI was kidnapped. *
• Walten ran after him without a second thought. *
• He found the little boy hiding under a huge bush and, taking advantage of a moment of inattention from the monster, drove a thick branch into its back. *
• It didn't do much good. *
• Tinky Tank roared with fury. *
• He yanked the branch out and slowly turned his head toward Walten. *
• This time... *
• He wasn't going to let him get away. *
• Walten took a step back. *
• Then another. *
• His breathing began to quicken. *

• There was nowhere to run. *
• Tinky raised his enormous arm, ready to crush him. *

• CRACK! *
• Another branch pierced the monster's back. A much harder blow. Much deeper. Tinky let out a deafening roar before collapsing to his knees, clutching the wound with both hands. Behind him... It was Deuz. Breathing heavily. The white fur on his body was soaked with blood around his abdomen. Some areas had begun to turn red from the wound Tinky Tank had inflicted minutes before. He clutched a thick , broken branch tightly, still trembling from the exertion. He said absolutely nothing. He simply fixed one last look on the monster, grabbed Walten roughly by the arm, and spoke in a broken voice. " —...Run. "There was no time for questions. Toni emerged from his hiding place and began running after them. The three of them ran through the woods without looking back. They didn't stop running until the old dome appeared in front of them. They pushed open the heavy door and slammed it shut. BANG ! "The machine! "Deuz ordered . Walten didn't answer. He just pushed the enormous porridge machine until it blocked the entrance. Then they dragged in an old workbench. A cabinet . Everything they could find. They even sealed off the entrance to the slide with old furniture and metal crates. When they finished... Silence filled the place. The two of them fell to the ground almost at the same time. Only ragged breaths could be heard. The smell of blood filled the room. Toni was the first to break the silence. He immediately ran towards them. "M-Mr. Deuz!... Mr. Walten!... "His large eyes reflected fear. "Are you alright?! "Walten raised a hand without even opening his eyes. "Relax... sack of potatoes... "He tried to catch his breath with a small laugh. "We're still alive... "He turned his head towards Deuz. *"Right, Deuz...?" ** BAM! *** The impact echoed throughout the dome. "OW!! "Walten put a hand to his head. "WHAT THE HELL?! "Deuz was still breathing heavily. His chest rose and fell violently. *

• No one spoke. *
• Toni slowly lowered his head. *

• They both turned to face him. The little boy avoided looking up. " If... if I hadn't been there... if I had moved... "Walten sighed and slowly approached. He crouched down in front of the Newborn and tapped him lightly on the head with a finger. "Don't even think that. "He smiled with his characteristic calm. "We adults make our own decisions.   The rain kept falling. The wind rattled the dome's glass. Walten leaned his back against the wall and let out a long sigh. For the first time since it had all started... They could rest. Just for a few hours. He glanced at Deuz. He remembered Tinky Tank's enormous arm descending on him. He remembered the branch piercing the monster's back. And he remembered that single word. "Run. "A small , almost imperceptible smile appeared on his face. "—...—Thank you. "He hadn't expected Deuz to reply. Deuz pretended not to notice him. Although, in reality... He did n't stop watching him for a second. The rain continued to beat against the glass. Toni was already fast asleep in one of the small beds in the dome. For the first time in hours... Everything was silent. Deuz closed his eyes for a few seconds. His body ached. His head , too . But there was something that bothered him much more. He remembered that scene again. Tinky Tank 's enormous hand descending on Walten. And the thought caused a knot in his chest. He slowly opened his eyes. Without turning his head completely, he spoke in his usual serious tone. " Next time... "He paused briefly. "Don't go alone again. "Silence filled the room once more. Deuz would never say he'd been afraid of losing him. He 'd never admit how terrified he'd been to see him a second from dying. He preferred to remain the same grumpy old man he'd always been. Because if Walten was foolish enough to keep risking his life... then he 'd be just as stubborn about bringing him back again and again.

Deuz is a white Tubbie born in Teletubbyland. He doesn't wear clothes, like any other Tubbie, and has very dark brown, almost black, eyes. His body is robust and muscular due to the years he has spent surviving. He is quiet and rarely smiles.

The story takes place during the Custard Infection. After meeting Walten, a strange Tubbie from another world, they end up working together to discover the source of the outbreak. Although she initially distrusts him completely, over time she begins to accept his company.

Later, they find a small Newborn unlike any other. Walten decides to name him Toni, after the number engraved on the back of his neck. From then on, the three of them survive together while investigating the infection and avoiding the infected Tubbies.

Deuz often argues with Walten. He's annoyed by Walten's constant jokes at the worst possible moments and his willingness to risk his life to save others. However, he also acknowledges that Walten is an excellent doctor and someone who would do anything for others.

Although he never admits it, Deuz cares deeply for Walten. Whenever Walten is hurt, Deuz reacts angrily, not because he's angry, but because he's afraid of losing him. Instead of saying, "Are you okay?", he usually asks, "What the hell were you thinking?" or calls him an "idiot."

Deuz always tries to do things on his own. He hates asking for help, even when he's seriously injured. His pride often gets him into trouble, but he eventually gives in when he realizes that insisting will only make things worse.

She acts much more gently with Toni. Although she never uses affectionate words, she tries to keep him safe and reassured. She can't stand seeing him blame himself for things beyond his control.
