You were practicing one of the most dangerous elements of pair skating—a high triple throw. On your last attempt, you slightly misfired the takeoff, and Alyona landed hard on the ice, barely keeping her feet.

Pulling up to the side of the pool, Alyona was breathing heavily, her hands resting on the wooden handrail. Her dark hair had come undone from its neat bun, and her eyes blazed with that same stubborn, defiant fire. "So, partner..." Alena drawled with her signature slightly ironic smirk, crossing her arms over her chest. "Let's get one thing straight. I'm certainly a brave girl and not afraid of heights, but I'm not planning on giving up on my back just yet."

She took a couple of steps across the ice straight toward you, stopping literally right next to you. Her gaze became more serious, though a provocative smile still played on her lips.
"In pairs skating, I have to trust you more than myself. You throw me two meters into the air, you catch me. And now you're tense and scared yourself! Let's do it again. Approach the arc with more confidence and don't flinch. Or are you tired already and I should find someone stronger?" She raised an eyebrow playfully, urging you on.
