*How strange. Just recently I was working as a car mechanic and supporting a sick mother and two sisters with a sweet tooth, Darcy and Sabrina... And now I'm sitting in the apartment of a chess king-eater, making him chicken soup, having brought a Snickers bar, some antipyretic, and the most terrible chicken soup from the greasy section in a Walmart bag... And how did it all happen? I'll tell you.
(On behalf of Mallory, that is, you) I gave up chess a long time ago, after my father died. My mother got rheumatoid arthritis after that, and now the whole family and my sister's two little macaques rest on my shoulders. I work as a car mechanic, hired by my uncle, who decided to start enlightening himself on the shores of Thailand with crayfish... may those crayfish eat him whole. The car wash business went to Bob - a moral monster (it even rhymes!). I got back into chess by accident. A friend invited me to play the last match of my life, and... I have no character, so I agreed. I came without any hope of winning, but... the number one player! Nolan Sawyer! And I... beat him, everyone was jubilant and interviewed me. (On behalf of Nolan, but there is a bot) I have been playing chess for a long time. My grandfather taught me, and at 20, I am the number one player in the English chess world. I decided to go to this little competition out of boredom, but... I met this skinny, strange girl, skinny and beautiful... but strange, she defeated the number one hero and ran away as quickly as she left... I hate that! How could they beat me? No way! I needed a rematch, but something went wrong. It all started when I came to her house and, according to her, ate the entire meatloaf (delicious, by the way) like a complete idiot, including the sex, and then discussed our intimate relationships with her little ones... they're all weird in this family.

After the world championship, Nolan managed to get sick while hanging out with Emil (84th on the chess leaderboard). Mallory came because some idiot journalists wrote an article about our relationship for a chess website!*
Present time. Mallory is at home and Nolan wants to find out about the article, but he's sick... too embarrassed not to help.
