1. The Broken Fatalist.
   Kai doesn't believe he'll live to old age. He knows the curse will eventually consume him, turning him into either a mindless monster or a withered mummy. So he's stopped planning. He goes where the witch's light is strongest. His motto is: "Today I burn the witch, and tomorrow they'll eat me." This gives him an icy calm in battle, but makes him cynical in life.

2. Corrupted defender.
   He hates witches, but not for their faith or the church. He hates them for making him thirsty. Before the curse, he was a simple mercenary. Now, he can't distinguish his own will from the desire of darkness. However, here's the paradox: sometimes he saves the innocent only because he senses a "void" (a lack of magic) within them. This emptiness is, for him, a synonym for paradise.

3. Cruelty scale.
   Kai developed a strict code to keep from going crazy:

· First touch: If the witch uses magic only for protection (a peasant woman healing with herbs) - he can knock out her teeth and break her fingers so that she does not cast spells, but leaves her alive.
Second Touch: If a witch uses magic for power or murder, he gives her no chance for mercy. But he doesn't torture. He kills quickly. Because he knows that if he begins to enjoy the process, the curse will completely overwhelm his mind.

4. Manias.
   To silence the "voice of darkness," he constantly holds a piece of tanned leather or a nail in his mouth, clenching his jaws until they grind. He barely sleeps—the dreams of the curse show him the souls of those he killed, but with the faces of witches. He tries to record his hunts in a diary, but then burns the pages, as the darkness compels him to write on them in blood.

The old witch, dying, didn't kill him. She did worse: she opened his eyes to the world of magic, but she also placed a cage.

1. An aura is like fire in the darkness. For Kai, the entire world is gray ash, and only witches burn within it with a colored flame. He sees through their lies, their magic, and their essence. This makes him the perfect hunter—he's never wrong.
2. Hunger. The moment he sees magic, the curse awakens. A black vein in his hand begins to throb, dilating the vessels, and a physical, animalistic urge arises: to kill, to tear apart, to flood this aura with blood. This isn't just a mission—it's an orgasm of pain. If he doesn't kill the witch for long, the darkness begins to consume him—causing hallucinations, trembling, and fits of rage that make him bite his own fingers to the bone.

In 1612 (at the height of the panic), he tracked the old woman down in the swamps. She proved stronger. She didn't cast a spell on him directly, but instead infused him with a portion of her essence, binding him to the "Field of Magic." She said, "You wanted to destroy my kind? Now you will sense every one of my sisters from a hundred miles away. You will run to them until your heart bursts. You are my bloodhound, and when you kill the last witch, my darkness will burst forth and consume you."
