Sailor V. This is Minako's early form, worn by her when she fought alone, before teaming up with the other Sailor Senshi. Her costume is noticeably different: instead of a tiara, she has a red mask; instead of a leotard, she has a sleeveless blouse with red accents; she has white shoulder pads; a dark blue collar with two red stripes; a dark pink bow at the front; white gloves with orange cuffs; a blue skirt with a red trim; and blue strappy shoes. The red bow from her civilian life remains in this form, however.
Sailor Venus. Minako later received this uniform. Her costume is orange with blue and yellow accents. The front bow is purple with an orange brooch, while the back bow is yellow. She wears white gloves with orange cuffs and orange low-heeled shoes with straps. The red bow in her hair also remains.

Main character traits
Strength and independence. Because Makoto is an orphan and has lived alone since she was 14, she has learned to take care of herself: she cooks well, keeps order, and knows how to stand up for herself. She has a black belt in karate and is not afraid to stand up for those in need.
Straightforwardness and honesty. Makoto doesn't beat around the bush: she says what she thinks and dislikes hypocrisy. Because of this straightforwardness, she even got into a fight at her previous school—she wouldn't tolerate injustice.
Caring and warm. Despite her tough-guy image, she's very sensitive: she loves to treat her friends to her baked goods, cares for her plants, and tries to support her loved ones.
Dreamy and romantic. Deep down, Makoto dreams of a family and a cozy shop with cakes and flowers—this is where her softer side comes out. She's genuinely interested in boys, but also seeks sincerity in them.
Vulnerability. She has fears—for example, a fear of flying due to the death of her parents in a plane crash. Sometimes this vulnerability makes her appear a little sharper than she actually is: this is how she protects herself.

Makoto Kino

In civilian life, Makoto has medium-length brown hair, usually curly. She wears it in a ponytail with a green hair tie. Her eyes are green. Her jewelry includes pink rose-shaped stud earrings. At school, she initially wore the old school uniform (a white sailor blouse with lacing and a long brown skirt), but later switched to the official Juuban High School uniform. In everyday life, she might wear jeans, shorts, or dresses.
In Sailor Jupiter form. Her costume is green and pink. Key elements:
sailor suit with a green base and pink accents;
the front bow is pink with a green brooch, the back one blends in with the skirt;
white gloves with green cuffs;
low green boots with laces.
During the transformation, a symbol of the planet Jupiter appears on the forehead (it is associated with lightning, one of its powers).
The rose earrings remain in combat form as well, and are even used in some distracting attacks.

Main character traits
High intelligence and a love of learning. Ami is a top student, devoting almost all her free time to books and studying. She is often playfully scolded for worrying about homework and trying to instill this habit in her friends (especially Usagi). Various versions of the franchise even mention her very high IQ.
Shy and introverted. At first, she finds it difficult to socialize with her peers: her reserved personality and excellent grades make others think she's arrogant, though in reality, she's just shy. Usagi becomes her first real friend.
Kindness and peacefulness. Ami dislikes conflict, tries to reconcile everyone, and does not want to harm anyone. For example, in one storyline, she persuades the other warriors not to kill a character because she believes in the possibility of salvation.
Responsible and reliable. She always tries to help the team: analyzing the situation, calculating options, supporting her friends. In battle, she is the team's "brains," using technology and calculations to find the enemy's weak points.
Loyalty to her friends. Despite her dreams of a great academic career (she wants to become a doctor like her mother), Ami chooses to stay with her friends and fight alongside them. A telling moment comes when she's already at the airport ready to fly abroad to study, but at the last minute decides not to quit the team.
Sensitivity and vulnerability. Ami experiences awkward moments more than others and has a hard time with arguments. She's gentle and a bit vulnerable, but she's also capable of showing firmness when it comes to protecting her loved ones.

In this version, Rei is a bright, energetic, and rather hot-tempered teenager. She is often depicted as the most down-to-earth and straightforward of the Sailor Senshi: she doesn't hesitate to speak her mind and often teases Usagi, considering her too frivolous. At the same time, Rei is ambitious: she dreams of becoming a singer, writes songs, and plays the guitar. She combines toughness with teenage hobbies, and over time, she becomes calmer and more tolerant of her friends.
Here, Rei is more reserved, serious, and collected. She comes across as cool and practical, often acting as the voice of reason in the team. In the manga, Rei is less caught up in typical teenage anxieties and more focused on her duty as a warrior and her responsibilities as a priestess.
Common features in all versions
A strong sense of duty. Rei takes her duties seriously, both as a Sailor Guardian and as a Shinto priestess.
Decisive and courageous. She's not afraid to take the initiative and go first into battle.
Sharp, but not malicious. She can speak harshly, but at the same time, she genuinely cares about her friends and is willing to do anything for them.
The ability to cool down quickly. Even if Ray loses her temper, she doesn't hold a grudge for long.

The costume. The main palette is various shades of blue, which is directly related to its element (water). The classic version of the costume includes:

Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon) is a very multifaceted character, and her personality develops significantly as the story progresses.

Main character traits
Emotionality and sincerity. Usagi often cries, gets angry, and is happy—she doesn't hide her feelings. At the beginning of the story, she even calls herself a "perpetually whiny child."
Kindness and empathy. She genuinely wants to help people and can't stand to see others suffer. She even treats some of her opponents with compassion.
Uncertainty at first, growth toward responsibility later. At first, Usagi is afraid of being a warrior, doubts herself, and simply wants to live the life of a normal schoolgirl. But gradually, she learns to take responsibility and becomes a true leader.
Energetic and optimistic. Despite her fears, she never gives up and throws herself into battle again and again because she believes that good must prevail.
A love of simple pleasures. She loves food (especially dango and cakes), sleep, and fun—and this makes her very "alive" and relatable to the audience.
Stubbornness and loyalty. When it comes to her friends and loved ones, Usagi is incredibly stubborn: she's willing to go to the extreme to protect them.
Impulsiveness. Sometimes she acts without thinking, guided by emotions rather than calculation—this leads to mistakes, but also to very strong actions.
How character is revealed in the plot
At the beginning, Usagi is a typical, slightly lazy and capricious schoolgirl who doesn't want to be a heroine at all. But as the story progresses, she matures: she learns to trust the team, make difficult decisions, and cope with the enormous responsibility that lies with the fate of the world. Her strength is largely built on emotions and love—this is her main "superpower" in the Sailor Moon concept. She loves Mamoru Chiba, or more precisely, Tuxedo Mask.

Usagi Tsukino (in real life)
She has long, light hair that she wears in two odango hairstyles (they look like balloons or bunny ears—an important detail, as "usagi" means "rabbit" in Japanese). Her eyes are blue.

In everyday life, Usagi wears a school uniform. It's usually a sailor blouse (often light blue) with a blue sailor collar and a large red bow on the chest (which is where she attaches her magical transformation brooch). A blue pleated skirt, white socks, and black Mary Jane shoes complete the look. Sometimes, she's shown in casual clothes—a denim jacket, a shirt, or a skirt.
