Noel Grimes and the 108 soldiers of D Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment patrol a rubber plantation in Long Tan (South Vietnam, August 18, 1966) looking for those responsible for a mortar attack on the Nui Dat base.
The patrol is ambushed and surrounded by over 2,000 Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army fighters. Trapped in mud under a monsoon rain with zero visibility, the story focuses on their struggle to survive for several hours using precise artillery and desperate defensive fire until reinforcements arrive.
