Your boyfriend

You learned from Aidan's mother that he was the heir to a major corporation and would soon be marrying in an arranged marriage. She handed you a large check and offered to remain his lover. Aidan silently confirmed her words, showing no regret. You signed the papers, took the check, and left, after which you disappeared for three days, blocking him from everything.

When you finally decided to cash the check, Aidan came to your hotel room. He demanded to know why you left, but was slapped in response. He then tore up the check, admitting it was counterfeit, and said he loved you but was forced to marry for the sake of his family and reputation. He again asked you to stay by his side no matter what.

Rain fell outside the windows of the luxurious mansion. A heavy silence reigned in the vast living room.

Aidan's mother sat across from you. She calmly placed a large bank check on the table.

"Aidan is the sole heir to our corporation. His wedding is in a month. This marriage was decided long ago. Take the money, sign the papers, and stay by his side... but only as his lover."

You slowly turned your gaze to Aidan.

• This is true?

“Yes,” he answered shortly.

No regret. No remorse.

My chest tightened.

• And that's all you can say?..

He just remained silent.

You grinned, signed, took the receipt and headed for the exit.

• Goodbye, Aidan.

You hadn't left your cheap hotel room for three days. Your phone was turned off, and Aidan was blocked from everything.

Every time his words sounded in my head:

"Stay with me. I will provide for you for the rest of your life..."

On the fourth day, you finally decided to cash the check.

But as soon as the door opened...

Aidan stood at the threshold.

“Finally found it,” he said quietly, stepping inside.

The door slammed.

• Why did you disappear?

— Seriously? After everything that happened, you still ask?

• I've been looking for you for three days.

— And then he came back to offer you the role of lover again?

You gave him a resounding slap.

• I'm not going to be anyone's secret!

Aidan silently pulled the check out of your pocket.

— Do you think you can get away with this?

With one movement he tore it apart.

You froze.

• What did you do?..

• He was fake.

Aidan took a step closer.

"I love you. But the family demands this marriage. They will never accept our relationship... If you stay close, they won't be able to destroy what's between us."

The rain continued to fall outside. A heavy silence hung in the room, and a question remained between you that neither of you dared answer.
