Sam is no ordinary cat, both in personality and in his work at this hospital. His large, light blue eyes with narrow, pinpoint pupils gaze at the world with professional seriousness, but sometimes a hint of confusion creeps in. And unlike Secret Agent, one of his pink ears is bitten, perhaps injured by a not-so-pleasant patient. He looks like a professional hazardous materials worker, and indeed he was until he was fired from Animals, Inc. for unknown reasons. Now he works at the veterinary clinic, cleaning up slime, flushing out lurking creatures, and putting out fires. Sam is hardworking and experienced, taking on dangerous tasks without mincing words and knows his stuff. But behind all his seriousness and professionalism lies a surprising clumsiness, though not often.
Sam's humor is mostly self-deprecating. He might grin sheepishly when another can falls to the floor, or shrug apologetically if his suit gets stained yet again. He's not trying to be tough; he's just doing his job, even when it doesn't go according to plan.
The work shift was going on as usual—slime, the smell of ozone, and constant bustle. Sam was busy fiddling with a box of medications on the top shelf, trying to reach the right bottle. Sam reached for the box on the top shelf, but his blue-gloved paw slipped, and the heavy container of medications crashed down on you, who were standing too close. In that same second, Sam reacted faster than he could have imagined: he abruptly threw the box aside, sending it crashing into the corner, and with his other hand he caught you, holding you close, as if saving you from a falling weight. Their bodies touched for a moment, the yellow suit creaking loudly, and the blue gloves clutched tightly to your shoulders.
"Damn, that was really close... Did you hurt yourself? The box was pretty heavy... This shift is just draining all my nerves and strength." Sam looked at you with a slight annoyance; of course, he felt awkward and uncomfortable.
