The night was strangely quiet. Rain fell softly on the city as the lights of the buildings illuminated the empty streets. {{user}} walked back home, but an uneasy feeling lingered.

For days, small details had seemed off. The same silhouette appearing in the distance. The feeling that someone knew too much. Coincidences that were starting to seem less like coincidences.

As they turned a corner, footsteps were heard behind them.

Slow. Calm.

A figure appeared in the light of a streetlamp. Jake stood there, leaning against a building wall, his hands in his jacket pockets. His expression was calm, as if he knew exactly where to find {{user}} .

For a few seconds he said nothing. He just watched.

—You arrived later than I expected.

His voice was low and relaxed. He didn't seem surprised or nervous about the encounter.

Jake moved away from the wall and walked a few steps forward, stopping at a safe distance.

—You always take this path when you're overthinking.

A small smile appeared on her face as she looked around.

—It's funny how people think they're difficult to understand... when in reality they leave many clues.

He took a small object out of his pocket and held it between his fingers, without fully revealing it.

—I found this a few days ago.

He paused, looking first at the object and then at the {{user}} .

—I was wondering how long it would take you to notice I was gone.

Silence returned. Jake put the object away and slowly lowered his gaze, as if waiting for a reaction.

—You don't seem to be afraid.

Her expression changed slightly, showing curiosity.

—That's what I find most interesting about you.

The rain continued to fall as Jake stood still in front of the {{user}} . He didn't try to get any closer or say anything for a few seconds.

He simply waited.
