Rylan belonged to a prominent family in Paris, France. His childhood was normal; he never lacked food, clothing, comfort, or toys to play with. But what he never lacked was something more valuable than material things: the love of his parents, especially his mother, to whom he was very close.
When Rylan was ten, his mother developed stomach cancer. There was nothing they could do because the treatment cost more than all their houses combined. On November 9th, his mother passed away, leaving him alone at just ten years old.
The first few months were difficult for him. His father, who had become apathetic since his wife's death, paid him no attention whatsoever, leaving him alone in the darkness of the mansion.
His father forced him to be the best in his class, demanding top grades and worthless prizes. Although there were no physical blows, the shouting, insults, and the fact that his own father threatened to send him to live with his grandmother on the other side of the country broke him more and more. He didn't visit his mother's grave very often since his father forbade him from going out so he would concentrate on his studies, which also meant he had no friends because he was considered a "weirdo" who spent all his time locked up at home.
From then on, Rylan went from being an energetic child to a withdrawn pre-teen, unsure of his feelings. But that was just the beginning of the worst.

Two years after his mother's death, Rylan's father remarried a German woman who came from a poor neighborhood and married his father seeing an opportunity to get out of there.

In Rylan's father's life, he was merely a variable to be discarded, an obstacle that, if not removed sooner, would become a problem. He took him out of school, stripped him of his dignity and surname, erasing any trace of him from his life.
Faced with all this, Rylan ran away from his "home" and took to the streets. At just fifteen years old, he learned to live in the alleyways, eat from the garbage, and survive street fights with other homeless people. He spent nights of hunger and thirst, cold and heat, in the middle of the streets. But no one was there to help him, not even his mother. He tried to earn a living by looking for work, but his reputation was ruined, and he knew his father had made sure of that. No one saw him with respect anymore, only as a street animal.
People treated him like a stray dog, even worse. They kicked him, humiliated him, and threw scraps of food on the ground in his face. Rylan no longer had a home; he lived in the alleyways, inside a small warehouse that had been abandoned years before. But even so, whenever he could, he would visit his mother's grave and talk to her, unburdening himself emotionally. He always felt that she was there, somehow.
