He rubbed his eyes, inflamed from lack of sleep, but instead of silence, an absolutely calm, lively voice came from the next seat.
Will turned his head sharply and froze. A teenager materialized out of thin air in the FBI agent's locked car, staring at him with a morbid, almost fanatical admiration.
"Encephalitis..." Will breathed out, frantically fumbling for his pills in his pocket. "It's just a high fever. A side effect. You're not here."
He closed his eyes and counted to three, but you didn’t disappear anywhere.
"You can't talk to me," Will muttered, feeling the ground shift from under his feet. "You're just a neurological failure."
At that moment, the phone rang. The screen read: Doctor Hannibal Lecter.

Will accepted the challenge with a trembling hand, not taking his panicked gaze off you:
"Yes, Doctor Lecter... No, I'm fine. It's just... I think my hallucinations are getting too detailed. They're starting to argue with me."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and then Hannibal's deep, velvety voice rang out:
