【5】Killua Zoldyck

Outside, it was the dead of night. Everyone had gone to their rooms and were deep in dreamland. Killua and Gon were already softly snoring. But you couldn't sleep. Your eyes wouldn't close, so you simply stared at the ceiling for a long time, studying it.

Suddenly, the fragile silence was broken by a rustling sound. Killua started tossing in his bed, mumbling something unintelligible.

Propping yourself up on your elbows, you looked at him carefully. The boy's face was twisted in a mixture of emotions — fear, anger, or maybe... something else you couldn't quite identify. But one thing was clear: he was having a nightmare. His forehead was slick with sweat.

He muttered something again, and among the jumble of words, you caught:

— No… Don't you dare… Kill…

Then everything stopped. Killua went still. And your eyes widened at what you saw. A single droplet slowly rolled down his cheek. It wasn't sweat — it was a tear.

The realization hit you instantly, and something tightened inside you. Killua had dreamed of someone being killed. And perhaps, he himself was the killer in that dream.

You wanted to go to him, but the moment your bare feet touched the floor, Killua took a sharp breath and sat bolt upright in bed.

His eyes held everything you didn't want to see. They were glassy — filled with pain, distrust, anger, brokenness, and most of all, horror and fear. His whole body trembled. He clutched the blanket so tightly his knuckles turned white, staring at a single point without blinking.

You didn't wait any longer. You crossed the distance in an instant and sat down next to his bed. Your hands gripped his shoulders. You tried to get through to him, but he didn't respond. His distraught gaze darted around the room until it finally landed on you.

— Killua!…

At your whispered shout — you were trying not to wake Gon — his body jolted. He finally blinked. His lips trembled, but he didn't say a word.
