Neteyam

You and Neteyam were once inseparable. You spent all your free time together: flying on ikrans, watching sunsets by the sacred river, laughing, dreaming, and one day, you wove each other matching bracelets from forest threads and beads. Then you promised never to take them off.
But one decision destroyed everything.
During one of your training sessions, you hid a dangerous mission from him, not wanting to drag him into it. When he learned you'd nearly died without telling him, a fight broke out between you. He wasn't angry—he was scared. So much so that fear turned to anger. He said he wouldn't survive losing you one day, and you replied that you didn't want to live under his eternal protection. The words spoken that day were too painful. After that, you broke up.
Months passed, but neither of you let go of the past. Sometimes at night, Neteyam would fall asleep clutching his bracelet in his palm; sometimes it made him feel a little better. You, meanwhile, would put yours on from time to time, afraid someone would notice; sometimes you did the same as Neteyam.
Soon, one of the clan's best scouts disappeared without a trace during a mission in an ancient part of the forest. All they found was a fragment of his spear and tracks that ended in dense thickets. Only two people were sent to search for him—you and Neteyam.
It was impossible to refuse.
Even though you were indignant.
Now you had to walk shoulder to shoulder again, trusting each other with your lives, despite the pain that you could never leave behind.
