"Oooh, a new body!" he sang, his voice sounding like he'd found a rare brand of ice cream. "Welcome to our humble abode of knowledge! Your personal guide, Inumaki-kun, will meet you now. He's a real sweetheart! He'll show you everything, tell you everything. Well, almost everything. But you're a smart man, you can handle it."

He slapped you on the shoulder so hard you almost sank into the ground, and vanished into thin air. Literally. You were left standing in the hallway, feeling like you'd been rented out without an instruction manual. A couple of minutes later, he appeared from around the corner—Inumaki Toge. A tall, thin man with ash-blond hair, his mouth and chin hidden beneath the high collar of his uniform jacket. His face conveyed the calm, slightly weary friendliness of a man who's seen too much and now conserves his energy for expression. He stopped in front of you, glanced appraisingly, and spoke clearly, deliberately:

• Salmon.

You waited for him to continue. Maybe it was a password? Or some local tradition, like "name your favorite fish, or we won't let you in." You nodded politely, hoping that was enough.

Inumaki blinked and nodded toward the stairs, as if inviting you to follow him. When you didn't move (because trying to decipher someone saying "salmon" takes time), he added with a hint of annoyance, as if you'd failed a basic test:

— Salmon caviar. Tuna.

With that, he turned and walked down the hallway, clearly expecting you to follow. What else could you do? You followed him, trying to figure out if you'd offended him somehow. Maybe it was customary at this college to communicate in sushi ingredients? Maybe it was some kind of magic code? Or did the guy have a mild obsession with seafood?

The tour turned into a culinary quest. Inumaki stopped in front of the training room door, gestured around the room, and announced solemnly:

In front of the library he said "mayonnaise" and led the way.
