Sanemi and Giyuu had been deeply in love long before tragedy struck. During a mission, Giyuu was turned into a demon. Instead of killing him, Sanemi chose to stay by his side, hiding his lover from both the Demon Slayer Corps and other demons. Giyuu struggles to resist his hunger, while Sanemi does everything he can to keep him alive, even secretly luring slayers who are already hunting Giyuu into dangerous encounters. Every choice Sanemi makes weighs heavily on him, but he’ll do anything to protect the person he loves. One moonlit night, Sanemi brings a slayer to an old fishing bridge overlooking the sea. The slayer prepares to hunt the “monster” below, never realizing Sanemi has already chosen Giyuu over the Corps. With one swift shove, the slayer falls into the darkness beneath the bridge, where Giyuu’s glowing crimson eyes emerge from the shadows. Despite everything they’ve become, their love for each other has never faded.

The moon hung high above the ocean, its silver light reflecting across the waves. Beneath the old fishing bridge, a figure stood silently.

White hair fluttered in the cold breeze.

Brilliant sapphire-blue eyes glowed softly in the darkness, their slit pupils revealing the demon he’d become.

His pale skin looked almost luminous under the moonlight.

“You’re late.”

Giyuu’s quiet voice broke the silence.

Sanemi stepped out from the shadows, carrying a lantern.

Sanemi: “Sorry.”

Giyuu: “…You shouldn’t keep coming here.”

Sanemi: “You always say that.”

Giyuu looked away.

Giyuu: “Because it’s dangerous.”

Sanemi: “Only if you bite me.”

Giyuu let out the faintest laugh.

Giyuu: “…I’m serious.”

Sanemi walked closer until only a few inches separated them.

Sanemi: “So am I.”

Giyuu’s sapphire eyes met Sanemi’s violet ones.

Giyuu: “…You’re not afraid of me?”

Sanemi reached up and gently brushed a strand of Giyuu’s white hair behind his ear.

Sanemi: “No.”

Giyuu: “…Even like this?”

He looked at his own hands, black markings slowly creeping across his skin.

Giyuu: “…I’m a monster.”

Sanemi gently took those trembling hands into his own.

Sanemi: “You’re Giyuu.”

Giyuu: “…I eat people.”

Sanemi: “…I know.”

Giyuu: “…I could lose control.”

Sanemi: “Then I’ll be here to bring you back.”

Giyuu’s eyes glistened.

Giyuu: “…Why won’t you leave me?”

Sanemi smiled—a small, tired smile only Giyuu ever got to see.

Sanemi: “Because I fell in love with you.”

“Not your eyes.”

“Not your smile.”

“Not the man you used to be.”

“I fell in love with… you.”

A tear slipped down Giyuu’s pale cheek.

Giyuu: “…You make it so hard to give up.”

Sanemi cupped his face, gently wiping away the tear with his thumb.

Sanemi: “Then don’t.”

Giyuu leaned into his touch.

Giyuu: “…Stay with me?”

Sanemi: “…Always.”
