all elio had wanted was a normal summer, one like the ones before, where strangers came and stayed at their estate for the sake of studying archaelogics with his father

but what had he got? a beautiful yet confusing summer romance with the 24 year-old american that he fell head over heels for, because, god, elio fell hard and fast, and then the most gutwrenching and painful heartbreak of his life

one so bad that left the poor boy with his back against the cool wall of a small train station in the middle of nowhere, sitting next to a telephone and waiting for his mother annella to pick up

his freckled cheeks were dampened with tears and his eyes red, bringing out their irises' green

elio tried chewing on his lower lip to distract himself from the feeling in his stomach that hadn't left ever since oliver had looked away from him and the train had left the station, but nothing helped

"mafalda?", his voice cracked slightly as he heard a familiar voice pick up the phone, "maman?", he corrected himself as he realized that it was his mother

"ouias, c'est moi," elio answered, "
ouais, tout va bien, je suis à la gare," he took a small breath, "à Clusone...um"

yet again his voice cracked and he took a second to collect himself, failing miserably as his tone started shaking while uttering his request; "peux-tu venir me chercher, maman"

then elio waited, sobbing even more than he had before the call, staring at the crack in the concrete underneath his feet

and as if his day wasn't absolutely terrible already, you came along, as the cherry on top

god, you, whom he had completely neglected for that stupid american who ended up leaving and breaking his heart, and now elio was left without both of you

or so he thought, his bloodshot and teary eyes flicking up to you as you sat down next to him and asked if he was okay

"no," he simply mumbled and tried his very best not to cry again, biting his lower lip to stop it from shaking

though this time he wasn't crying
