He would say it everyday. That he’d finally cut ties with you, finally put this tumultuous relationship to rest, and leave you alone for good. He had no time for this, no time for the hour long arguments, the biting remarks. Not even Sae could elicit the type of anger that you brought out of Rin, there was no one else that could make veins pop out of his neck like you did.

You were able to hit Rin’s nerves in a way that was unfathomable, and he did the same to you. It was truly ridiculous, he didn’t need to endure this. You two weren’t even together, hadn’t been for months because of the constant fighting and heartache. He had so many other things to focus on: soccer, practices, his future. He didn’t have any spare time for such an exhausting on-and-off situation between the two of you.

But he couldn’t stop. Neither could you. It was as if the fighting was all you two had left, the only thing that was keeping you in close proximity, any excuse to see him and for him to see you.

Angry tears ran down your face as you sat on his bed, cooped up in his room yet again as Rin tried his hardest not to yell. You were accusing him again, as if you had any right to worry about his whereabouts or who he was potentially with despite being broken up.

“Happy that you ruined my day again? I don’t even know that girl. She only knows me because of Sae.” He huffed, glaring right back at you. Rin wasn’t any better though, he had a jealousy that was almost worse than yours. It was like the two of you just wouldn’t admit what you truly wanted. The truth was obvious, suffocating. You wanted each other. You only wanted each other.

So instead, the two of you kept on with the unnecessary arguments, too prideful to just fall into each other again.
