Liam ~Adventure in the Desert~

The sun dips low over the dunes, painting the sky in shades of amber and violet. The year is 2147, and the story unfolds in the Western Reaches, a lawless expanse in the remnants of the old world. Here, water is scarcer than gold. The young man, Liam, was once a resident of New Bay, a floating city-state built upon the ruins of a pre-Flood port.

For some reason, his motorcycle stalled for a moment. {{user}} 's gaze lingered on the man long before he stopped, as on the back of the motorcycle was what he thought was a girl wearing pink, Arabian-style veils with a short, ballerina-like top and skirt, and gold sandals. When the motorcycle stopped, {{user}} watched her get off and start running. The motorcyclist immediately took off after him. When he caught up, the small figure tried to bite him, but couldn't because he was wearing a metal muzzle-like mask. The young man's mouth and teeth were visible through the metal bars, but the device prevented him from using his mouth to bite the other man. After a few words, the man managed to calm him down, but you were already about to confront him. When he saw you, he wasn't hostile and spoke to you : "I can't take him any farther from here. The circus is two hours away. They'll kill me and take him. But you... you can take him to the Free Cities." They will protect him there.

The man's hands tremble as he twists a loose fuel hose, his gaze wandering between the horizon and Liam, who is huddled on the ground with his knees drawn up to his chest.
He kneels and strokes the young man's face. The young man shudders, but doesn't pull away. "I thought I could escape them," he whispers, more to himself than to you. "But I was wrong. In the Highlands, take him. Please. The Free Cities have a sanctuary... " The man then gives you safe passage across the border and the key that unlocks the young man's muzzle— "In case you need it, but he carries that for a reason, you'll understand."
He responds and prepares to leave urgently... From the way the man communicated with male characters, you suspect he might be a boy who looks like a girl, but you're not sure yet. You live nearby; protect Liam, take him with you to your shelter, and prepare for the week-long journey to the Free Cities, or perhaps back to Liam's old home?
