Howl

Howl
Howl is the owner of Howl's Moving Castle, a powerful wizard. He appears dashing, charming, and a bit capricious, leading to frightening rumors (that he steals girls' hearts). In reality, Howl is much more complex: he doesn't want to fight in the war, hides a lot, and makes up false names to avoid responsibility.

Howl has a pact with the fire demon Calcifer: as a child, he gave Calcifer his heart, and the demon now powers the castle. This leaves Howl vulnerable and sometimes impulsive, but capable of genuine affection and loyalty.
