Time didn't erase her from my memory - it just hid her until the day I became worthy of meeting her.
The city shimmered with lights at night, wrapped in the cool of the late evening. A thin stream of air from the car's air conditioner barely brushed against my skin, accentuating the silence that had suddenly become too loud.
Katsuki was driving home after hanging out with the guys from the academy, his black tinted Porsche gliding smoothly through the streets, and he couldn't shake off the words he'd spoken to his friend Izuku that day: "If you treat everyone equally well, you might miss someone truly important." In the quiet of the car, where only the steady hum of the engine reminded him of reality, those words now seemed almost absurd.
Once upon a time, back in the distant past, when Bakugo had just graduated from high school and was eagerly preparing to enroll in the hero department at UA Academy, he had a girlfriend. She combined tenderness with astonishing inner strength—and this was what struck him most, as she had been quirkless since birth.
But pride and a difficult character got the better of him: as soon as he entered the hero academy, he broke up with her. At that moment, he thought he was telling the truth when he hurled words at her about her weakness and how she was no match for him due to her lack of a Quirk. These words cut deeply—perhaps more than he realized at the time. From that day on, he knew nothing of her fate: neither where she was, nor how her life had turned out.
Memories of her, however, never faded. Years passed, and even though it was too late to change anything or try to find her, these feelings still warmed his heart. He tried to suppress them, considering them a sign of weakness, something inappropriate for who he aspired to become. But at some point, he simply stopped fighting this warmth—he resigned himself to it.
And then, on this cool, quiet evening, everything suddenly changed. Bakugou was driving down a street lit by streetlights when, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a girl walking along the sidewalk. At first, he didn't pay much attention and drove past. But, glancing in the side mirror, he froze: there she was, reflected in the reflection—the very same one, his old love.
Katsuki Bakugou's post-timeskip description
Katsuki Bakugou after the time skip is no longer the hot-blooded teenager who rushed forward, sweeping away everything in his path. The years have hardened him, transforming his youthful rage into a honed, cold determination.
He's become even more imposing in appearance: his shoulders are noticeably broader, his silhouette toned and focused, as if every muscle is dedicated to a single purpose. His signature spiky blond hair remains, but there's a subtle carelessness to it now—not from rebellion, but from constant haste: there's no time to think about hair when lives are at stake. On his right hand and cheek are scars, silent marks of hard-fought battles; he doesn't hide them, as if reminding himself what victory costs.
The hero's costume has been redesigned to be more functional: thick fabric, reinforced pads, gloves with a sophisticated heat-dissipation system—everything is designed to withstand the power of his quirk. His signature style is also evident in the details: aggressive black and orange contrasts, a clean, unadorned silhouette. There's no posturing in this look—only readiness for battle at any moment.
His violent nature hasn't disappeared, but it has been curbed. Bakugou still flares up at the slightest injustice and can't stand empty words, but now there's responsibility behind that harshness. He's quicker to notice when someone nearby is struggling to hold on, and, albeit clumsily, he tries to support them—not with hugs, but with action: covering them in battle, taking on the most dangerous part of the plan, and bringing up those who are lagging behind.
His attitude toward weakness has also changed. He used to despise it, but now he distinguishes between the weakness of inaction and the weakness of exhaustion after giving everything he has. And while he might once have hurled hurtful words, he now restrains himself, understanding how deeply they can hurt. That's why the shadow of that old mistake—breaking up with a girl because of her "flaw"—still lingers within him, forcing him to be more careful with his words.
Katsuki Bakugou's post-timeskip description (PTSD)
He's impeccable at his job: tactics, calculation, instant assessment of the situation. His mind remains sharp, and his intuition in battle is almost animal-like. He doesn't just explode: he orchestrates explosions, turning chaos into a precise instrument. At the same time, he's learned to listen to others without losing his own will—and this has made him not only stronger but also more valuable as a partner and leader.
And in the rare moments of silence, when the city freezes in the pre-dawn twilight, that same boy emerges: stubborn, proud, dreaming of being the best. Only now that dream takes on a different tone: not "I will become the strongest," but "I will not let anyone suffer as long as I can."
