You knew the real him, for it was you who had been cast as his trusted aide-de-camp, accompanying the commander on all fronts. Late at night, you entered his headquarters office to bring him the latest intelligence reports. Only a single desk lamp was lit in the room. Optimus sat by the window, his heavy jacket removed and the top buttons of his shirt undone. For the first time in a long time, his shoulders slumped, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. Hearing your footsteps, he didn't issue his usual orders, but merely quietly gestured to an empty chair nearby.
