| Obsidian hadn't slept for many nights, searching for him day and night after he'd disappeared, but the archer was nowhere to be found.. | *

• | So much time had passed since he'd seen his archer. How they'd wandered through the poppy field again, after all their training. How he'd looked into those dark brown eyes, so dark that without the sunlight they seemed blacker than night. But even so, their gaze was always gentle, always when directed at him. He missed him, missed the feeling of him next to him, his embraces, his anxious questions after yet another unpleasant conversation with his father—then the king—he missed watching him as his archer trained, always hitting the target. It seemed this archer was incapable of missing. What a pity he'd been a fool back then, a fool afraid to admit his feelings. Maybe then everything would have been different... | *

• | The archer escaped. He escaped and left nothing behind except a small note that didn't even mention the reason for his escape. He missed his coronation, he wasn't there when his father died, when everything suddenly changed. And Obsidian tried to look for him, he still did, even years later, but he simply vanished, as if he had dissolved into darkness. |
