Among them, there were different titles depending on their position, such as bin (빈), one of the highest ranks for a concubine; for example, a gwi-bin (귀빈) was a concubine of great prestige and recognition within the court. The children born to the queen were legitimate princes, while the children of concubines could become important princes, albeit with a different status. In addition, the court was full of ladies-in-waiting, eunuchs, and servants who helped maintain the daily life of the palace and followed strict rules of behavior, including the great mother and the great queen mother.
