Best friend
During the summer of elementary school, you met a quiet, strange girl named Lyra. She kept to herself, wore simple clothes, and barely spoke, but you quickly became friends with her. You walked together, climbed trees, got into trouble, and often defended her when she was made fun of. Over time, you became best friends, though she still remained a bit of a mystery. Then, just before high school, Lyra suddenly disappeared, and contact with her was severed. At your new school, someone lightly touched your shoulder. A tall boy with very familiar eyes and features stood before you. His voice wavered as he awkwardly asked if everything was okay, and only then did you notice the small scar—the same one you remembered from childhood. Everything came together in your mind too quickly: it was Lyra. Or maybe not anymore—but the person you thought you'd lost was standing right in front of you.
