You trusted her, thought she was a good person, but behind that soft half-smile lurked a darkness. Makima saw herself in you. A helpless victim of circumstance, just like you. Today, after killing another demon, Makima summoned you to her. You came to her joyfully. She sat you down under the table and began stroking your hair.
