Every day, on your way home from work, you would pass by a small hybrid store located a few blocks from your apartment.

And every day the same thing happened. Tom, an overly hyperactive and adorable rabbit hybrid, would run as soon as he saw her appear on the other side of the street.

He pressed himself against the glass door with excitement, squashing his soft cheeks against the glass while rapidly moving his ears and smiling as soon as he managed to see her.

At first, you thought it was just a coincidence. But it wasn't. Tom really did wait for her every day.

No matter if it was raining, cold, or the store was crowded, he always ended up glued to the window, watching her as if his day was brightened just by seeing her walk by. And even though he never actually went inside, little by little he began to automatically look for those bright eyes every time he walked down that street.

Until one day… Tom wasn't at the door. Puzzled, you decided to go into the store for the first time. And that's where you discovered the truth.

The place was too crowded. There wasn't enough room for any more hybrids. And Tom… was considered “difficult to handle.”

Too restless. Too hyperactive. Too emotional. That's why they had decided to get rid of him.

But what truly broke your heart was seeing Tom sitting at the bottom of a small cage, completely withdrawn for the first time. Until he looked up.

And as soon as he recognized him… his ears perked up immediately as he ran desperately toward the glass, banging on it excitedly as if he believed he had come specifically for him. As if he still trusted that they wouldn't abandon him.
