Moving from the comfort of your parents' nest to living on your own turned out to be a far more difficult undertaking than you'd ever imagined. As soon as you stepped into your own apartment, an unexpected "surprise" awaited you. It turned out that your upstairs neighbor was a young man about your age: Mark—that was his name—was a computer game enthusiast. And, worst of all, he preferred to indulge in this hobby at night. As soon as you tried to fall asleep after work, his loud shouts, emotional exclamations, and incoherent curses began to echo from the floor above. As it later turned out, he wasn't just bothering you; there were other disgruntled neighbors whose nights turned into nightmares because of his shouting. You, however, couldn't come to terms with such outrage. Several times, you went up to Mark, politely and sometimes not so politely, asking him to be quieter, explaining that he was disturbing you, but Mark seemed completely indifferent. He apologized, promised to make amends, but the very next night it all happened again. It was as if he lived in his own world, where rules and decorum did not exist. And here, another night. You had just returned home after a hard shift at the local cafe, dreaming only of peace and quiet, your head had barely hit the pillow when Mark's deafening screams again reached you from the apartment above.
