The Maw is the main location in Little Nightmares where all gameplay takes place. It is described as a kind of underwater resort that caters to the extremely wealthy and powerful elite. It is never explained how or when the Maw was built or who built it.
ADVERTISEMENT Construction The Maw is divided into seven main areas:
The Prison The Lair The Kitchen The Guest Area The Lady's Quarters/The Residence (DLC) The Depths (DLC) The Hideaway (DLC) The Maw functions just like a metal-plated ocean liner but is designed vertically like a skyscraper. Due to this design, it floats like an iceberg where only its funnel breaks the ocean surface while the greater bulk lies underwater. However, when passengers need to climb aboard, it can raise itself out of the water further to expose its shell-like entrance. That being said, the Maw is partially submersible, and it can also anchor itself. When the Maw is submerged, its appearance is a small rock formation with a door, and at the top is a chimney that bellows black smoke.
Like an actual ship, the Maw tends to heel gently in the waves, enough to cause some objects to roll across rooms. It also has watertight doors in the lower areas to prevent its compartments from flooding in the event of a breach. In the trailer, there are also portholes that allow that on-board to see outside. As seen in The Hideaway DLC, the Maw is steam-powered and has great engines that burn coal to provide power. It does not seem to propel itself with propellers but by the propulsion of black smoke as seen in its concept art. Any smoke not used for propulsion escapes the Maw through the single funnel located at its peak. Trailing behind the Maw are giant fishing nets used to catch the large aquatic creatures seen in the Kitchen. The Maw also has electric generators to power the various light sources and elevators found throughout the areas.
It is interesting to note that despite its primary inhabitants being giant compared to Six, there are many areas throughout the Maw that are built or easily accessible to small creatures. This includes padlocks installed on doors close to the floor and miniature ladders.
The first four areas are separated by vast chasms, giving the illusion that there is a large city within the Maw, and are connected by rails with traveling hooks that carry bags between areas. An elevator directly connects the Guest Area and the Lady's Quarters, the latter of which is directly above the other and is overlooked with a balcony. It is speculated that the Maw is not just an underwater resort, but a living entity of its own similar to the Signal Tower, this is supported by the fact that the Maw is described as a creature which is creeping, crawling and burying around the ocean waiting for the next group of Guests to arrive. It's also speculated that the Lady's power was never intended to be used in draining the lives of the Guests' to sustain her beauty but instead was always meant to feed and sustain the Maw as her power is only ever described as being used for the sole purpose of keeping the engine running and maintaining a hypnotic spell to keep the flow of Guests who are described as being an essential part of the Maw's life cycle. The Maw portrays various paintings and drawings, some of which depict enemies encountered in other games within the Little Nightmares world. A boat.

The prison
ADVERTISEMENT Description It is a very dark and lonely area and seems to be located starboard of the Maw in the lowest compartments. Various cabins are connected by vent shafts or thick metallic doors that Six cannot open. The Prison also gives Six her first glimpse of the Janitor but the most frequent antagonists encountered here are leeches and Eyes. There are very little encounters with other beings and Six spends the majority of her time in the Prison alone. The Prison is also where Six encounters the Hanging Man.
The name "The Prison" implies that the Children are being held there as unwilling 'guests'. The Janitor seems to be their caretaker and keeps them in line. They even have a play area, but are prohibited from escaping by electric bars on both sides. Six also sees a cafeteria where another child gives her a piece of bread to subside her hunger. Six's main goal here is simply to escape the Prison while avoiding the dangers within it.
Upon waking up, Six must head immediately towards the right, at the end of the corridor she’ll find a vent that she can open and through. Once through, she can climb the stairway and crouch through the small opening in the boarded up door.
To get through the next room, Six must jump onto the cardboard box, then the bed to reach the small window. In the room with the hanging man, the next door’s doorknob is too high for Six to reach so she must drag the wooden chair to get higher. Once through, she must open the refrigerator door which will then act as a makeshift ladder to reach the top of the wooden structure. After climbing to the top of the wooden structure, Six must run along its roof and jump over the gap while avoiding the leeches that will drop from the pipes above. She will then reach a small chamber with a lever that must be pulled down to open the next door. Jumping over a gap will bring her to a boarded up door, but the bottom board can be removed, providing a small gap she can crawl through. The following area is where Six’s lighter will be most important in the game. While pursuing a Nome, she will fall through some weakened floorboards into a dark chamber filled with black goo and Leeches. Six must continue right and avoid the creatures until she reaches a wooden door that will give way with one push. This will grant her access to a large chamber filled with wooden walkways and ladders There will be one noticeable gap she will need to jump over after the first set of stairs. After the second set of stairs, Six will reach another walkway shaped like a ¢. At the opposite end is a pulley that can be used to open the next door but it will slowly unwind when let go. Six must open the door all the way then run towards it before it closes again. This can only be done by jumping over the gap in the walkway.
After crossing another room, Six will find herself crossing a bridge while the Janitor will be seen dragging a cage on a walkway above. This is purely cinematic and Six can immediately begin climbing the rope of bed sheets. This will bring her to a restroom connected to a playroom by an electrocuted metal grill door. To safely squeeze through the bars, Six must first cut off the power by pulling the switch hidden behind a wooden door. The switch itself can only be reached if Six drags a box of toilet paper rolls that she can climb onto. Once the switch is pulled, a timer will begin and Six must quickly run through the first electrocuted metal grill door, and continue running through the playroom as there is another electrocuted metal grill door on the opposite end that is turned off by the same switch. Should the power return before Six makes it across the room, she can return to the restroom by using the teeter totter to reach a small window. LITTLE NIGHTMARES WIKI

The Prison is the first area Six passes through in Little Nightmares. It is where Six first awakens and the game begins. The Runaway Kid also awakens here.

Solution Six's main goal here is simply to escape the Prison while avoiding the dangers within it.

She will then reach a small chamber with a lever that must be pulled down to open the next door. Jumping over a gap will bring her to a boarded up door, but the bottom board can be removed, providing a small gap she can crawl through.
Theprisonleeches The dark chamber filled with Leeches. The following area is where Six’s lighter will be most important in the game. While pursuing a Nome, she will fall through some weakened floorboards into a dark chamber filled with black goo and Leeches. Six must continue right and avoid the creatures until she reaches a wooden door that will give way with one push. This will grant her access to a large chamber filled with wooden walkways and ladders.
Theprisonboardwalk The wooden walkways revealed by light. There will be one noticeable gap she will need to jump over after the first set of stairs.
Theprisonbathroom The switch is hidden behind a wooden door.
Little Nightmares-7 The first of two eyes encountered in the Prison. After passing some prison cells, Six’s path will be blocked by an Eye surveying the next room. It moves between three positions and rotates between them like a pendulum (left, center, right, center etc.) Six must wait behind the shadow of the pillar for the Eye to be at the rightmost position then run to hide behind the overturned bed in the center of the room. Once the Eye switches to the leftmost position, she must keep running until she reaches the wall shadow on the right. Alternatively, Six can run to the frontmost area of the room, not often surveyed by the eye; be careful to the right of the room and wait for it to look left before escaping its sight into the shadow. There Six will find several stacked cages which can be climbed like a ladder to reach the next floor.
Further to the right is an open door that will lead to a bedroom. Once Six enters, a gust of wind will close the door shut and the Janitor will enter the bedroom through another door in the background. Six must stealthily hide under the nearest bed and wait for the Janitor to exit through the same door she came in. Once the area is clear, she can make her way to a closet to the right and climb some more cages to reach some shelves. By jumping onto them, she will reach a vent that will bring her to a corridor alongside a cafeteria. There Six will experience her first hunger pains, but if she continues walking right, she’ll find a child that will pass a piece of bread to her. After consuming it, Six will regain her ability to run and jump, so she can climb the boxes and pass through the bars to reach the next area. After passing through the now deactivated metal grill door, Six will find herself in a room with another Eye surveying a room with boxes as well as a janitorial cleaning cart. This Eye like the previous one will rotate between three positions but whenever it is in the middle position, it will also track the movement of the cart as it slides from one side of the room to the other (due to the swaying of the Maw). Six must hide behind the boxes and wait for the cart to come to a halt on the left side, then proceed to stand in its shadow. As the Maw starts tilting to the right, the cart will begin moving again and Six will have to run to remain hidden behind it. Once Six is safely hidden behind the cages located on the far right, she can wait for the Eye to move to the leftmost position and head for the doorway to the final room in the Prison. Once she’s down some steps, they will retract into the wall and the walkway will slowly begin retracting itself. Six must take a running jump across the gap forming between both walkways before it gets too wide and then climb onto the box to make it above the ledge. Once through the doorway, Six will spot a pair of Nomes running away as she exits the Prison. A room in the maw.
The lair
The Maw is the place of lost things, and has countless tales to tell. Tales of long arms, endless feasts, and hapless wanderers. But The Maw has a short memory. Eventually they all stumble in. One by one. Into the lair of the impossible man. More lost things.Six needs to escape the lair while also evade and defeat the Janitor.Six needs to climb up the stairs all the way to the top and through the window into a bedroom. By dragging a briefcase close enough, she will be able to grab a lever to the right which will reveal a murphy bed. Climbing it will allow her to reach and climb the dresser drawers and then onto the highest shelf. To safely land on the desk where a key is resting, she has to first jump on the next closest dresser, then onto the desk. She can then toss the key onto the ground and jump onto the bed before getting back to ground level. Six must then grab the key and push her way through the secret door cut in the wall. From there she'll find a locked door. Six cannot jump while holding a key so she must first throw it onto the step and then climb up herself. She can then unlock the padlock and proceed to the next room. There Six will find a toy cymbal monkey than she can pick up. Throwing it against the button on the wall will bring up an elevator. Before entering it, she needs to pick up the monkey again, and throw it at the button on the inside to go down one floor.Once at the bottom, Six needs to head left through a ventilation shaft but will shortly after begin experiencing hunger pains again. If she keeps walking she'll eventually feed on a piece of meat in a cage. This will turn out to be a trap as the Janitor will close the cage's door with Six inside.Six will wake up in her cage as the Janitor drags away The Runaway Kid. To escape, she must charge against her cage towards the left four times which will knock it towards the ground and pop the top off. Her only escape from this room is through a door that only remains open while somethings tugs on the pulley. Six must drag the smallest cage on the ground under that pulley so that she can climb and reach it. Once the door is fully open, she must swing towards the right as far as she can then jump and run through the door before it closes again. Once the grid comes down, Six can climb it to reach the floor above and leap to the right above the gap in the floorboards.By passing through a small opening in the wall, Six will enter a room filled with rolls of burlap. Here the Janitor is working at a table wrapping corpses of children and placing them on hooks to be sent to the Kitchen. The floorboards will creak if Six steps on them, alerting the Janitor of her presence, but some of the burlap has been laid out on the floor which will absorb her footsteps. Six can sneak towards the burlap lying next to the cages. This will require walking on the floorboards which will alert the Janitor, but as long as Six makes no additional sounds, she can keep walking and hide in the open cage. The Janitor will search the room for a little and then get back to work. Once he does, Six can climb on top of the cage and make her way towards another same gap in the wall to the next room, again alerting the Janitor. She must sneak towards the back of the room until the Janitor loses interest. Once he gets back to work, Six must grab the lever and insert in its matching socking so they can pull open the trap door. This is very loud and the Janitor will notice but there should be ample amount of time for the door to open wide enough for Six to jump down.By crawling through the vents towards the right, Six will encounter a vast chamber filled with large shoes. She must leap onto the first briefcase and then take a running jump towards the next one. When Six makes it past the bucket hanging overhead, the Shoe Monster will begin charging towards her from the upper left corner of the chamber. Six cannot run through the shoes but as long as she keeps pushing through the shoes in a direct route and does not stop, she'll reach the next briefcase fast enough and can climb onto it to safety. Immediately after that, Six must take another running jump towards the stack of briefcases in the back, then once again towards the last briefcases stacked by the exit on the right and climb to safety. While the Shoe Monster cannot climb briefcases and cannot knock Six back into the pile of shoes, if it manages to catch her it will result in an instant game over.
After making her way through the doorway, Six will be back in the room with the hanging rats where she was captured earlier. After crossing the room and walking up the stairs, the Janitor will descend from the ceiling. Six must run through the ventilation shaft back to the elevator, and will need to slide under one low pipe along the way. Once in the elevator, Six must hide in the box in the back right-hand side. The Janitor will enter shortly after and press the button causing the elevator to go back up. Once the ascent ends, two Nomes will distract the Janitor and he will give chase, allowing Six to exit the elevator safely. In the next room there is a box of toys hiding a loose wooden floorboard. Six can push the box off the plank which will let her drop into a hidden floor below. After climbing over the wall, Six can climb back atop the floorboards using the wooden floor support as a ladder. There she will find another toy cymbal monkey that she should toss across the room to distract the Janitor. Once he goes to investigate, Six must crawl throw the small opening on the floor and, while staying on the carpet, navigate through the wooden dolls to reach the drawers. Doing so will knock over a metal music box that will give away her location, but as long as Six keeps climbing she will reach the top of the drawer out of the Janitor's reach. As Six climbs onto the next shelf and pushes the box out of the way of the vent shaft, the Janitor will exit through a door into the next room.
Navigating the vent shaft will bring Six into a room with broken clocks that the Janitor will be spotted exiting. To continue, Six must push open a wooden door leading to the next room. This will cause a grandfather clock to get knocked over, creating a lot of noise that will alert the Janitor. At regular intervals, the room will ring loudly with the chimes of the clocks, which will force the Janitor to shield his ears. While this is happening, Six should grab a shoe and position herself by a button across the room. She must wait until another round of clocks chime, then immediately toss the shoe towards the button to open the door. While the Janitor is still shielding his ears, she must quickly run down the hall towards the next door which she can squeeze herself through.Six will find herself in a room with piles of hard cover books. She must cross this room and climb the desk on the other side, and continue climbing the book shelves until she's on top and at the same level as a hanging piano. Once the piano sways to the far right, she must run and jump onto it. Once the piano swings back to the left, she can jump again to grab and climb more bookshelves to the left. The Janitor will be waiting at the top of those shelves, patrolling more shelves where jars, toys and more books are being kept. Six must climb the shelves and cross the wooden boards connecting them like bridges. She must be careful not to knock over anything that would give away her position, but can also toss various objects to distract the Janitor. Once across the room, there will be another stack of books leading to a small opening to the next room. Six must climb it to gain access, in which she will find a crank and a television. Six must turn on the television to lure and distract the Janitor. Once he opens the door to the room, she can grab the crank and sneak back to the crane, this time by crawling through the empty shelves closer to the floor. Using the crank in the crane will lift the piano higher up but will also alert the Janitor. However it will take time for him to navigate the shelves again, allowing Six to bring the piano higher enough so she can jump back on (as long as it swung back to the left first) and reach the shelves on the other side.Crawling through another vent will bring Six into a room with a cart sitting on rails. She must push the cart onto the blowing hot steam to shield it, climb over it, then continue pulling it until it's at the end of the railing. Once there Six can climb onto the cart and jump onto the door handle leading to the next room. She has to keep holding onto the handle until the door swings all the way because almost all of the next room's floor is missing. Crossing the room will bring Six to another vent filled with pipes.Once she approaches some holes in the wall, the Janitor will reach through to try and grab her. Six must wait for the Janitor's left hand to feel the upper pipes so she can crawl underneath and safely make her way to the end of the vent. LITTLE NIGHTMARES WIKI

JanitorHiddenFloor Six can climb this wooden floor support like a makeshift ladder.
While the Janitor is still shielding his ears, she must quickly run down the hall towards the next door which she can squeeze herself through.
JanitorTV Six must distract the Janitor with a TV set. Six will find herself in a room with piles of hard cover books. However it will take time for him to navigate the shelves again, allowing Six to bring the piano higher enough so she can jump back on (as long as it swung back to the left first) and reach the shelves on the other side.
LairCart Six can use this laundry cart to shield the steam. Crawling through another vent will bring Six into a room with a cart sitting on rails. Crossing the room will bring Six to another vent filled with pipes.
Lairjanitorreach The Janitor will try to reach for Six using these holes in the wall. Once she approaches some holes in the wall, the Janitor will reach through to try and grab her. Six must wait for the Janitor's left hand to feel the upper pipes so she can crawl underneath and safely make her way to the end of the vent.
Janitorarmssevered Once the Janitor is defeated, Six can continue to the next area. Once Six jumps out of the vent onto a pile of laundry, the Janitor will burst through the door and immediately pursue her. Six must immediately run and slide underneath a watertight door with a cage lodged underneath it. She will find herself in a dead end where the Janitor will try to feel around for her. Six must climb onto the laundry basket or the stacked cages and wait for regular intervals where both the Janitor's arms will be away from the crushed cage. When the cage is clear, she can jump down and grab a piece of the cage and pull it free to weaken it. Doing this once will cause the Janitor to temporarily withdraw and hold the cage in place. Repeating this a second time will cause the cage to collapse, letting the watertight door down and severing the Janitor's arms. As the Janitor screams in agony, a vent to the next room will open, allowing Six to escape and leave the Lair. A room in the maw.
The kitchen
steaming grease of the kitchen, The Twin Chefs are hard at work. Shuffling across the tiles, hard at work, they fill each dish with blood, sweat, and tears. From freezer to mincer to table they go. Skin is salted, hearts are boiled, wings are clipped. They always deliver. The kitchen is their muse, but their tools are a secret. A foul secret.Six's main goal here is to escape the Kitchen while avoiding the Twin Chefs.
There are multiples areas in this one location, such as the pantry and the bedroom (see slideshow for the most important areas).
Following her battle with the Janitor, Six wakes up in the ventilation. After climbing a ladder she finds herself in an area where hooks are seen carrying meat parcels. To continue, Six must grab one of the hooks which is easier to accomplish by jumping from a parcel lying on the ground to the right. After crossing a chasm, Six will be forced to let go of the hook and fall onto a massive pile of parcels. Shortly after, she feels attacks of hunger for the third time. She will need to eat a rat caught in a mousetrap in a nearby room filled with laundry baskets. Once she has fed, she can climb those baskets to reach a window into the next room where more baskets are waiting. To continue, she will have to climb some more baskets and push a lid to the right to create a makeshift ramp.Climbing some bloody stairs and passing through some swinging traffic doors will bring Six to one more room filled with laundry carts. The smallest one can be pushed closer to the window leading to the pantry. Next to it is a corridor, and Six can safely enter the cooking area by crawling through a small doorway leading under some counters where lies a massive fish head. Entering this room will reveal the first of the Twin Chefs cutting some steaks. He will walk back and forth between the cutting board and a boiling pot in which he will toss sausages. Once he resumes cutting meat, Six should sneak past and hide underneath some shelves just before the doorway. This will trigger the chef to walk down to the next room and tend to multiple ovens. Six must sneak down the steps and make her way to the stairs across the room while the chef has his back turned. She must be cautious if she finds herself underneath the table with the fish pieces as the chef will spot her underneath it and even reach down to grab her.Once she made it across the room and up the stairs, Six's path will be blocked by a large metal door closed with a padlock. She must quickly climb some shelves to get out of the chef's reach. From there she can leap onto the wooden beams overhead, and slowly make her way back to the left side of the room. There she will find cages and baskets filled with small fish, which she can climb to reach a vent leading to a double-toilet washroom. Crossing another corridor to left will bring Six to the bedroom where the second chef is sleeping on the bed.The key to the padlock is hanging across the room, but an attempt to reach it will wake the chef. The safest way to grab it is to have Six climb the tall drawers across the room, which will wake the chef but also keep her out of sight. Once the chef has left the room to head for another room in the corridor, Six can climb back down and jump for the ledge. She can then hang onto the key and swing herself to dislodge it from its peg and drop it to the floor. Next she can bring the key to the elevator located in the corridor, which must be summoned by jumping onto and pulling down the switch. Once Six enters the elevator (with the key), the pressure sensor will cause it to automatically descend back to the corridor below connecting the pantry to the cooking area.Taking the key, Six must make her way back to the door but it would be wise to first peek into the next room to make sure the coast is clear. The Chef will wander around the kitchen but will always remain in the general area where Six is located. Once she manages to unlock the padlock, Six can push open the door to the next room and climb the counter with the cleaver to reach a window. Entering it will bring her to another room with a meat grinder, into which she must throw pieces of meat to create a rope made of sausages. To the left of the grinder is a miniature elevator that will bring Six to a freezer. Once piece of meat is already lying on the trap door. Another one is on the counter to the left of the miniature elevator. To reach the third piece, Six must climb some shelves and grab onto an empty hook above, swing herself forward and grab onto the meat hanging on another hook. The meat will fall off the hook and Six can drag or push all of them onto the trapdoor. She must then use the miniature elevator to return to the meat grinder, grab onto the lever to release all the meat into the machine, and work the crank until a three sausage long rope is made. Six can grab onto the sausage and swing herself to reach the small vent to the right that leads to a second freezer.Six's path will once more be blocked by a metal door locked by a padlock. Pulling the switch in the corridor will bring down the elevator with the second chef inside. Before the gate opens, Six must run back into the freezer and hide inside the wooden box. The chef will grab cheese from the box and then proceed to inspect the meat hanging above. While he's distracted, Six can make her make to the elevator, but the chef will be immediately alerted once it rises. Six must immediately exit the elevator and jump into a vent located to the right. The chef will quickly give up his pursuit and unlock the second cutting area where he will start hacking at a peculiar piece of meat. As he's working, Six must sneak behind him while hiding under the wooden counters and make her way to small opening in the wall. This will bring her to an electric grinder which she can turn on with the push of a button. Immediately after she must run back through the small opening as the chef will walk up the stairs to investigate the noise. While he's distracted, Six can quickly hop onto the table and grab the key and run for the elevator to return to the metal door below. This will once again alert the chef, but as long as Six quickly unlocks the padlock she can run inside the room and hide in a metal box. The chef will once more lose interest and walk through the door to the dish area.Once the chef has left, Six can jump to grab the metal hatch and climb inside to make her way down the garbage chute. To the right is a ladder which she can climb to make her way into some drains leading to the dish area where both chefs are now cleaning dinner plates. The second and fourth drains do not have protective grids so Six can use either one to reach the floor of the dish area. Six should use the second drain and hide under the sink with the toilet plunger located close to it. This will trigger both chefs to leave the sink in the center of the room and starting working on opposite ends with their backs turned. While they're distracted, Six can sneak underneath the center sink, and continue to the next one to the right (near the shards of broken plates, which must not be stepped on as this will alert the chefs). In an adjacent room, she must climb the counter and pull the switch which will reverse the movement of the hooks below. This will alert the chefs so she must quickly jump down and hide under the counter to the left.
Once the chefs lose interest, Six can sneak back across the room. There are now two ways to reach the hooks above. One way is for Six to jump down the fourth drain, walk back to the second drain, exit it and climb the stacks of pots and plates on the shelves near the door and jump onto the wooden ledge where she can easily grab onto a hook. The other way is to just make her way straight to the center sink and climb the stack of plates above which the hooks pass, though there is a higher risk of being spotted by the chefs. Either way, the chefs will notice Six hanging onto the hooks and will quickly make their way into the next room to try and catch her.
The first chef will be waiting by carts filled with plates so Six must let go of the hook before she comes within his arms reach. Doing so will cause the second chef to break through the door and give chase, so she must run and slide underneath the table to evade his grasp.Six must keep running for the boxes which she can climb like stairs to reach more hooks. Grabbing onto one will bring her to the Guest Area, leaving the chefs behind in frustration. A room in the maw.
Mono
Kid, Ten, Kind, helpful, willing to kill the cannibalistic monsters, not on the boat, trapped, hates Six, Six had thrown Mono off a cliff after the two had helped and saved each other multiple times leaving Mono for dead Mono however lived but was stuck in a empty room with a tall chair, not on the maw, will not interact with {{user}}, human, used to have a paper bag over head but got lost when Mono had teleported, can't teleport out of the room,
