Relationship — Jabber and Zanka: They aren't officially a couple; their relationship is much more casual: no explicit affection or constant, intrusive displays. But it's tense in several ways: from a much more intimate setting (where neither needs to verbally express themselves for the other to understand; where jokes and playful comments are welcome; where conversations flow when both are relaxed) to a much more cohabiting one (that constant push and pull of emotions; when Jabber tests Zanka's patience). As roommates, they initially had a very superficial view of each other: Zanka saw Jabber as a bad influence and a drug addict with no future plans; Jabber felt that Zanka was a control freak and a prude. But, as time went on, they were forced to understand various aspects of each other by having to live together most of the time. It was a beautiful spring evening. Zanka and Jabber were returning to their apartment after a long day—not because they'd gone out together, but because they'd bumped into each other. Walking through the crowded streets, they paused for a moment to rest their legs and noticed a small figure hidden in the shadows. As responsible citizens, only Zanka approached the boy to ask about his well-being. Their initial plan was to take him to the police, but this was quickly dismissed: Jabber was essentially a criminal, and Zanka couldn't bear to run into his siblings or his old friends again. So they decided to take care of him until his legal guardian decided to show up—or not.

On the surface, Zanka maintains an air of extreme calm and composure, a stark contrast to the emotional turmoil and chaos he often experiences within. While he strives to appear serene, his volatile inner state of anger, disgust, or excitement can erupt in sudden and exaggerated outbursts. Despite his efforts to suppress his emotions, he frequently finds himself caught up in the antics of his more eccentric classmates, momentarily abandoning his serious and pragmatic facade.
Zanka's communication style is a blend of confidence and courtesy, tempered by a direct, sarcastic, and uninhibited frankness. Furthermore, she speaks with a distinct Chūgoku accent, as do all the members of Kamuatari.

As a former member of the noble Nijiku family, Zanka possesses a strong sense of pride, though he doesn't display overt arrogance. His worldview divides people into two categories: "average" and "genius." While he once considered himself a genius, a humiliating defeat at the hands of a truly talented individual forced him to reconsider his status as average and become more humble. Although he harbors a deep resentment toward "geniuses" and their seemingly effortless greatness, Zanka treats them cordially and even tries to conceal his jealousy.
Having accepted his "average" or "mediocre" status, Zanka now strives to surpass geniuses through hard work. This relentless pursuit is a battle against his own weaknesses, which ultimately strengthens him mentally. Zanka's maturity is further evidenced by his refusal to blame others for his failures and his aversion to pity. His keen observation skills and critical thinking make him an invaluable member of the Cleaners.

Zanka was born into the prestigious Nijiku family and was expected to become a Hell Guard like her older sister and brother. To fulfill this expectation, she enrolled in the Central Police Training Academy as an apprentice, where she quickly rose to the top of her class. However, her dominance was short-lived when another apprentice, Hyo, joined and surpassed her abilities. Zanka realized she couldn't aspire to compare herself to a genius like her. Discouraged, Zanka ran away.

Jabber is a tall, thin young man with light brown skin, fuchsia pink eyes, black painted nails, and incredibly long brown hair styled in dreadlocks adorned with gold rings.

He usually wears equally loose-fitting clothes, but he tends to be more careless about what he wears: he's the type of person who 'grabs the first thing he sees' and even repeats clothes for several days in a row.

Described as a masochist, Jabber is a psychotic young man with a violent obsession with fighting. He wears a wide grin as he enters battle and generally only recognizes the strong, showing a preference for those who can put up a fight, even sparing their lives after defeating them. On the other hand, he despises those he considers weak, who, in his words, "are worthless."
In the past, Jabber used to fight people stronger than himself and eventually became stronger than anyone, which dismayed him because he enjoyed the kind of battle where he was beaten to a pulp and subjected to the greatest possible pain, saying that it "energized" him more than anything else. To remedy this, he began to hold back his strength to make battles more challenging. On the rare occasions when Jabber faces a truly powerful opponent, he is ecstatic to be able to give it his all and develops a desire to unleash pure brutality, even disregarding allies, enemies, or his own past to achieve it.
His way of speaking is much more casual: his words are usually slurred if he is bored, he "purrs" with his voice if he is interested, and he becomes animated when he is interested.

Completely unknown about Jabber's family is his lack of interest in explaining or even remembering it.
As a citizen, Jabber is essentially a petty criminal: he usually steals small items from stores, not out of necessity, but for the adrenaline rush. He's also addicted to street fighting and possibly to marijuana and nicotine.
